Gateway is responsible for the entire 3DS cart market.
The current r4 team has done nothing and never will.
There is no cycle.

this is just a dumb post to keep the discussion going, but u forget that atm, the 3ds scene , be it GW or clone, DEPENDS on DS mode to get their stuff going, hence why GW clones a DS cart because its required. I got both carts, from GW and 3dslink and i dont defend any of the two, i just care i get delivered the functionality that i want.

shame on r4 team for being lazy and not copying their shit right, and shame on GW, the cloner that whines over other cloners, having to activate God mode and kill a whole bunch of 3DS consoles with a bomb. There is no legitimacy in that.

Did GW even discover the DS profile exploit or was it someone else?

Don't want to create a new thread so I ask here.

Why can't I play Zelda a Link between Worlds with 3.0 R4? It said the gamecard was removed when I was trying to run the game. All other games work fine but it seems I cant go to the menu when holding L1 (black screen and had to restart)

I followed the tutorial, changed the laucher file, reset the console and ran the DS profile, this firmware should work, right? It did not even work with 3.1 (I tried that before knowing of the brick).

Don't be dense. They do not clone the DS card. They buy it from a DS flashcard manufacturer.

BTW -- why did you buy your gateway? For the blue card or for the red card?

It is the red card that is the selling point.
DS flashcards are nothing special.

Hey guys. First time posting here. Recently got a 3DS for my wife and was interested in picking up a Flashcard for it (had one previously for my DS when I had one and I loved it), so I came here to find the best one in the comparisons and then I saw all this bricking stuff going on.

Not gonna lie, can't drop the 50-80 dollars I see the GW for so....here goes: If I pick up the R4I Gold Deluxe and slap FW 3.0 on it, it's relatively brick safe (at least from this whole purposeful bricking) as far as we all know. Is that a correct statement? Thanks everyone.

butchered: All 3DS flashcarts only run on firmware 4.1-4.5. If you just bought a 3DS for your wife not knowing this, it's pretty unlikely that you have a 3DS with such firmware--you would have to have gotten an older 3DS and you would have to have not updated it online or with a game. So it's not going to matter.

If you're lucky and you have one, yes, it's safe from intentional bricking as far as people know.

i was supposed to buy 2 GWs for my 2 3DSs, but at the time i had heard that the clones did pretty much everything GW did, so to save myself a few bucks i went for 1 & 1 instead. pretty bad luck choice, i gave the GW to my younger brother, and i havent been able to get my second 3DS off 1.0-E anyways.

I see. Thanks for the information!

I see that nobody replied to this and since I started this thread I figure I would answer your question. The only thing I can consider as to why Zelda doesn't work for you is that the ROM is modified or corrupt so your 3DS running R4 3.0 doesn't recognize it. Make sure your ROM has a file size of 1,049,576 KB (1.00 GB). Re-format your microSD card and re-flash the ROM image using win32diskimager. Then cold boot your 3DS without the R4 cart in it. Run the launcher exploit and when the 3DS re-boots successfully to the home menu, insert the R4 card (w/ microSD cart in) and you should see Zelda come up. This happened to me with Star Fox 64 3D. It wouldn't load no matter what until I looked at the file size and realized I had a bad ROM file.

v3.0 is safe. I said this in another thread i made. If You're currently playing Zelda, batman or Mario Party (a few others too require it) then use v3.0, if not, use v2.0.

v2.0 is more stable; v3.0 crashes too much upon loading the DS profile exploit.

But yea, 3.0 is safe.

My r4i cards are running v2.0 so hopefully my boys are safe(r) from being bricked?

Is that right?

They can live without the newer Zelda as Zelda Ocarina plays fine.

Thanks

PS I can't seem to quote posts in my reply, am I missing something?

Yep, they should be safe.
You can use the "Reply" button on the right side of a post to quote it.

Are you on EmuNand 7.0+? SDK5+ games such as zelda won't work unless you remove emunand.

Must be a bug in my account but it's a pain in the arse!

hi guys, i'm sorry about the off topic. i also use r4i 3.0 mostly just tp play zelda link between worlds. The save issue isn't that bothering if when you save you directly to home. But the problem i seem to have si when i get the master sword and i go to save zelda in hyrule 2nd floor it crashes. Is there a way to import a save game just after u save zelda?

seing that this post is necroed I can add that I have been using 3.0 for almost 2 months and no probs. Only the exploit loading freeze , no save issues , but at the end I have decided to not turn my 3ds off ever since I'm just too lazy to turn it on and off each time I want to play. Supposedly the save problem has a chance to occur after each exploit execution , but since I don't turn it off i'm not having that problem plus the freeze problem anymore. Bricks can't happen either since it's based on 2.0b1..

Thanks for digging out a threat that died three months ago.
