I hate to rain on this parade but i'm sure most of you know these online petitions are worthless as most of them never get anything done.Â

That is mostly true for petitions addressed to multi-million dollar companies such as Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft/several Game-Producers and publishers.

You have to remember that the guys in China are not making this kit for you guys, they're making it to how they see the kit is profitable.

Yeah, but look at it this way:

Who´ll buy a product which won´t support something that has a highly demanded, especially when rival-companies
offer products which provide the features the consumer is looking for?
That might hurt sales a bit, if not kill them off and kick them in the balls while they are down.
Not a very profound plan.

But if they don't want people ripping off their product I can understand that to a degree. I mean the EZ team went through the same thing (EZ3) and they did not release the source for a LONG time and that never stopped me from still buying their products. EZ3 eventually did release the source and sadly nothing ever was created with this new knowledge. I stopped being an EZ customer when I found out they don't BACK their products ...shit no one to even talk to over there. G6/M3 ... while they wont give out their source they do answer their emails and help you asap. Danny answers all my questions, they have sent out just burners to customers who lost their originals, and of course updates real quick.

However I do think homebrew is booming more so there definatly needs to be more support due to the immense competition. While the SC is not my favorite it is nice to know that I can usually play homebrew on it. My list of favs goes G6, to M3, to SC, however all gamers can't afford more than 1 kit so when it comes time to pick up something, well SC is cheaper and allows homebrew and the M3/G6 team need to fear that. I mean sure G6 has a much prettier interface but if you can't doom on it....I guess it depends on where your priorites are. So in the end G6/M3 can put nails in the coffin as the best cart out there by just bumping up homebrew support.

I think it's a great idea to bring more attention to this matter. The G6/M3 team needs to realize that homebrew support is a deciding factor for a lot of people when picking out a flashcart. I, for one, am torn between all three products... To those who say "just get a SC Lite," the SC Lite lacks things the G6/M3 doesn't (e.g. GBA performance). I definitely agree with HC about them being able to put "nails in the coffin." The G6/M3 team can easily fix the homebrew issues by simply releasing the source code... On the other hand, it is my understanding that the SC team cannot drastically improve GBA performance due to the slower SDRAM being used in their products.

If fakes are an issue, maybe theres some way of only distributing the source to those who are proven homebrew developers.

If I sound stupid, i'm sorry, i'm oblivious when it come to homebrew development.

Hi Guys.

Well, I got a reply from the M3 Team, it's not exactly as official or as positive as I'd hoped it would be.

Danny from the M3 Team said:
Hi ,
Thanks for your information & concern about our products .
We did our best to finish doing G6 /M3 lib for the developer.
But it is not suitable for all the developers .
In fact the lib we offered is similar to the lib from SC ,and their lib is also not source form.

About M3 and G6. Homebrew community are able to support M3 adapters using the Crishm's fat library, but it doesn't have support for G6 (as Crishm is not able to use the precompiled library). Crishm's library: http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/gba_nds_fat/

This is completely understandable as there are several different types of flashcarts, each of which usually require a different build of DS organize due to read/write issues. They need to spend more energy on revising software if supporting all Flash Cards.

We don't really understand it due to I'm not a developer.
We had solicited opinions from many users.
I will discuss with our developers about related problems.

Regards
Danny

I'll also post this reply to all other threads where the petition was posted.
Feel free to discuss.

It still bugs me they release software that uses modified versions of chishm's library, and dont even have the decency to release their source modifications (also ignoring the liscencing of moonshell).

I still think their kernel's loader needs to be improved with respect to homebrew. I can run stuff and have it work from moonshell with the M3, but not from their loader (corrupt gfx/reversed displays/locks on FAT access... that type of thing) - of course, pepsiman came up with a solution, but theirs is the only card so far which actually requires it so there should be no reason why the devs should adapt the toolchains further, that work everywhere else just fine, for their 1 line of products.

If anything, DS-X is gonna kick them in the teeth and proove they are being lazy with respect to homebrew.

Well I'm sure most people here will get a Slot-1 solution (for NDS) on top of their Slot-2 solution (for GBA)..

Best of both worlds, problem solved.. Just need to waste a bit more money that you probably won't spend on buying actual games anyways..
