Hi All,

I have been trying to get SNEEK working on my already softmodded wii with not much sucsess so far. I have been using ModMii to create the nand for my wii and thought I had done everything that was required.

To start with I tried the SNEEK approach as I planned on having everything on the SD card to get it up and running and then try to extract some VC games to it (using showMiiWads). I copied all the generated files from ModMii to the SD, put it in the Wii and started up. Nothing happened. Tried to load BootMii and got a blank screen. I could see post loader and other things in the HBC but had no joy when I was in them getting anything to run.

I then tried setting up SNEEK+DI (thinking I was perhaps not quite doing something right with the SD only setup). I again used ModMii to generate all the files for the SD and USB and copied them over to my SD card and a USB stick. I also used wii backup to transfer a game onto the USB (so it had one on there as I read that this was necessary).

So I plugged them all in and fired up the Wii. The next step was install the neek2o wad in MMM but when I ran this it just said that it was finished but not installed. When I go back to my wii channels / restart there is no sign of the neek2o channel (which I assume is so I can run it).

In the homebrew channel I load BootMii (using the home button) and it seems to try and do something but the drive light flashes (short, consistent flashes about a second apart). From what I have read this is a sign of SNEEK trying to start up but there is an issue with either the SD or USB.

So I am thinking I am sort of on the right path but not quite there.

Can anyone give me any ideas / help / assistance to get me over the finishing line as I thought I was close to get this running. I would like to get it started and then be able to extract some VC games into the nand so I can play them.

Many thanks in advance!

It's best to start with a sneek setup without di. It's the only version that doesn't need the harddisk.
neek only works with a 32KB cluster size on a fat or fat32 formatted sd card or usb drive.
It can take up to 10 minutes from initial boot to the first startup screen with a modmii created nand.
After you filled in all settings, it can take another 20 - 30 minutes before it shows the health screen.
If you interrupted the first boot, you need to copy the nand folders back over from your pc. Those on the sd card
can become corrupted.
sneek doesn't boot automagically. It can either be booted by launching bootmii if the sd://bootmii/armboot was modified,
or it can be booted with the channel from neek2o. This second approach doesn't need changes in the sd card bootmii folder.
You need to switch to a vulnerable ios in mmm before you can install the neek2o wad. This is usually ios 236.
A sneek + di setup isn't working when you are using the neek2o rev. So, it's useless to try that one out.

Use rev. 75 of neek2o, As rev. 70 - 74 had a bug.

Thanks for the reply!

I tried the seek setup first for that exact reason (so I didn't need to unplug my WBFS drive and plug in another USB device). Forgot to mention I did format the SD and USB to the correct clusters (SD was 32kb and USB was 16KB) so I have that covered. BUT I didn't format in FAT32 with 32KB clusters not FAT. Would that cause issues and its has to be FAT not FAT32?

I am wondering if I was too hasty with waiting. I do remember getting a blank screen and waiting for a bit (as I had read that it can take a while) but perhaps I should leave it a little longer and see what happens.

I will double check the IOS in MM tonight, I 'thought' I was on 236 but It may well be that I am not and is why its not installing.

At the moment I have a 2GB class 2 SD card which I have been using since I softmodded my wii. I also have a 4GB class 6 SD which I am trying to setup for SNEEK. I guess if I go with the SNEEK approach then I can just use one of these cards and run neek2o from the channel (if I get it installed)! Saves having to swap around all the time.

Thanks again for your help. It has given me a few things to try tonight.

FAT or FAT32 should both work.

There is an exception upon the fact that sneek doesn't boot automatically. If you have a wii with bootmii installed as boot2 and you change the sd card bootmii/armboot.bin, than the wii should boot directly into neek.

SD(HC) cards aren't very critical for neek. Just in case of bootmii @ boot2, I have seen sd cards that don't initialise fast enough. Removing the sd card during startup of the wii, inserting it and launching with the channel or with bootmii ios from within the homebrew channel usually solves the issue.

At the moment I am happy with not booting directly as I just want to get it working first and take it from there. Out of interest what do you have to do to the armboot.bin to make it boot directly?

If tonight I have issues I will try that approach (as long as I can get the channel installed of course). I have always been leaving the SD card in the drive so if I get the channel in I will try inserting it once the wii is booted and before I launch the channel and see what happens.

If I do get it up and running am I right in assuming I can then just extract the VC games I have into the nand using ShowMiiWads and they should then appear as channels on the SNEEK setup?

Thanks once more.
