I really like this game. It's WAY harder then the riddles in professor layton. There is no "scribble mode" so you either get some paper while you play or have to do it all in your head.

Is it the same as European May's Mysteries: The Secret of Dragonville, only with changed title?

Unless someone on GameFAQs knows how to get past that piranha puzzle with the planks in the beginning, I'm never getting within a 10-foot radius of this game again.

It's not too bad, except there are several puzzles which are extremely frustrating, with nary an indication of how to go about solving them either in the instructions or the hints. I actually have exactly one bonus puzzle left to do to complete all 271 puzzles in the game, and I'm not going to do it, just to be a d*ck about it (lord knows this game d*cked me around enough while I played it).

Wait... Really? It's not that hard....
Just put one across the outside corner, forming a triangle with the corner, then, put the second board touching the center of the other board, and the inside corner of the fountain, so that it makes a T shape with the first plank.

Oh, *ahem*, thanks, I guess that didn't really occur to me ^_^ I'm sure it was one of those things where if I had picked up the game again in five years, I would have solved it in a couple minutes. I was probably overthinking it

What I absolutely DESPISE about this game is that the hints are useless. If I ask for a hint, I want some kind of help solving the puzzle, and what this game gives instead is "Look harder! You can do it!". Whoever developed the hint system is a complete idiot.

Also...
Can anyone confirm this is the same as the Mays (E) release from August?
It is the same game. May have spelling changes or some bonus, but more likely not.

I'm surprised how utterly shameless this game was at imitating Layton; the graphic style, the soundtrack, the atmosphere, it's like someone just said "yeah, let's remake one of those". The bonus puzzles are a bit of a cop out too, in a lot of them you just end up doing the same puzzle over and over with different pictures on top. As for the hints I think there's too many hint points, I've been using them to skip the boring "Where's Wally" levels without really thinking about the cost. Hint 1 is always useless, and hint 2 often gives too much away. Music games, actually I don't mind most of those, but there's a few where you can't tell the difference between the melody you're supposed to play and the backing track which is kinda annoying.

All that said, at the end of the day it is a collection of puzzles and if you like puzzles you'll probably like this. But it's definitely inferior to the Layton series, and the repetitive puzzles will get boring if you try to play through it too quickly.
