Hi, Gang!

Strange behavior here. Take a DS Lite. Can be turned off or on. Close the lid and put it on a table. All is fine.

Now take a DSi or DSi XL and open it and turn it on. Screen is lit up and everything nice.

Now put the DSi / DSi XL on top (touching it) of the DS Lite... And move it around a bit. You will notice that in some positions (particularly when the top right corners align), the DSi's screen turns off...

This happens with my son's DS Lite, and both my wife's DSi XL and my daughter's DSi... But no effect on my 3DS.

Any idea? Any other here able to reproduce this?

it's because they have magnets in them that allow sleep mode to be activated, it should work with a 3ds though, you'd get the same effect with a kitchen magnet.
I remember discovering that and thinking "oh shit, I broke my ds!"

Stupid me for not realizing that earlier.

And I thought it was some kind of interference. So don't store the DS near the compass in your backpack when travelling!
