3DS Gets Dragon Quest Slime Game
The cute little Slimes head out to sea on latest adventure.
Amid all the cancellations and delays coming out of Japan, Square Enix managed to brighten everyone's day just a bit with the promise of some guaranteed cuteness for later this year. The publisher revealed that it's readying a Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime sequel for 3DS.
In Japan, Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime is known as "Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest." There are actually two games in the series, one on Game Boy Advance and one on DS. The latter was brought over to America as Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime.
The new 3DS title is known in Japanese as Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest Daikaizoku to Shippodan. The game has a sea going theme, with players taking their Slimes out onto the seas where they'll face of against enemy pirates in ship-based battles. We've also heard some unconfirmed reports that you'll be able to build your very own ships.
All this will apparently be in full 3D now, different from the 2D visuals of past entries. Among the supported 3DS features, Square Enix notes 3D visual output, internet support and SpotPass. How these will be put to use is a mystery at present.
We don't have any screenshots to share. However, more details could be coming through the game's newly opened official site shortly.
Japan will get this new Dragon Quest Heroes game this Winter. A release outside of Japan has yet to be announced.
