Hello, thank you for taking the time to look this over

My friend's wii bricked up from a nintendo update some time ago. He gave me his wii just now because he bought a new one, and I'm trying to salvage what I can from it.

From my understanding, he installed homebrew channel but never bootmii. The wii updated and it's been displaying no signal ever since.

Symptoms are primarily,

-Wii turns on when pressed on powerbutton
-If disk is inside, it spins
-There's no signal being displayed at all
-Nothing boots, seemingly
-The G PAD method doesn't call the recovery menu, at least, it doesn't display. I'd like to think the recovery menu is there but there's no video signal, but that's unlikely

I went through the SaveMii troubleshooting and I think it needs to be NAND reflashed, using a chip like infectus. I'm not sure though

So is there any idea how to salvage this Wii? Even buying a new wii, replacing it or its board or something?

Thanks for your time!

Well, naturally, replacing the board would fix it (the only other real component is the DVD drive, and that can't brick a Wii).
You have no NAND Backup, so there's no way to use an infectus.

Installing _only_ HBC should not be cause of brick after nintendo update.
I don't trust Your friend.
Prepare SD card for bootmii@boot2 and test it - maybe there is a chance.

I had the same problem and after trying so many things I just gave up and sent it to Nintendo, because of the nature of the problem they couldn't spot any homebrew on it and replaced it with a new one.
