well the: ``This runs the Hackmii Installer from which you should install the Homebrew Channel, DVDX [optional], & Bootmii as IOS & boot2 if possible.`` part should be edited to:

This runs the Hackmii Installer from which you should install the Homebrew Channel.

because it does only install the homebrew channel.

o and BTW i cant install the homebrew channel for some reason. it gives me an error:
-27473967 or something.

Alright, I've got a problem here.

I've tried this twice already and both times my Wii has bricked after enabling the Priiloader hacks. Luckily I've been able to restore my Wii thanks to the NAND backup. But I fear trying it a third time. Any idea as to why this happens?

What message are u getting when u try to load the system menu?

When I try to load the system menu all I get is a black screen with 4.2U in the bottom right of the screen.

Well... Total noob here. First time ever attempting to mod my Wii and it went without a hitch! YAY! Nice guide indeed. Got HBC etc. and was even able to install a USB loader... So yeah, feeling pretty good about things at the moment. It did help to read the basics info etc. anyway... I truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into these guides.

I have a question though and not sure if this is the place but I'll give it a try anyway.

When I got to the:

Install either cIOS249-v14.wad or cIOS249-v15.wad
Install either cIOS250-v14.wad or cIOS250-v15.wad

part, I chose v14... Because it says "or" is where my question is...

I made the assumption that I had to intall one or the other and not both. If I want to go to v15, do I uninstall v14 first then install v15 or just install v15 without messing with v14?

Does v15 have any advantages over v14? I have been reading the replies for hours and am not seeing any reason to go to v15 and if I did the steps (to prevent bricking) to change versions.

Your feedback is most appreciated.

Thanks again for all the great guides and feedback in here - way awesome.

Nice guide. I would only add one extra piece of information to the guide:

If you already have HBC installed before following the guide and that during installation it goes "upside down" (after installing the IOS) all you need to do is re-install HBC (by downloading hackmii and launching from HBC).

I was able to perform the "Update" portion of the guide. I was going to erase the contents of my SD card and copy the "Modify" files, but my computer no longer wants to read my sd card. XP keeps crashing and locking up when I try to navigate to the removable drive aka my sd card. Any clue what has happened?

Edit: I tried it on another computer and everything seems to be fine. I should have done that before posting. It just seemed strange that before the card was in my Wii it was fine in my pc. Afterward it was unreadable. Sorry

Ok so im having a bit of an issue here, i tried updating to 4.2 from a modified 4.1 with cioscorp and everything, i used the updater provided in this post, and it didnt work 100%. None of the .wads would install, only IOS70-64-v6687.wad, System Menu-NUS-v481.wad, Shopping Channel-NUS-v18.wad, and IOS61-64-v5405.wad would install correctly, everything else would give me and error "Installing Title... ERROR! (ret = -1035).

So i ignore it and go onto the system menu, it now reports that i'm on 4.2U, and everything is still there as i left it, so i put the files from the modify.zip onto the sd card and i try to go and run bannerbomb to update the homebrew channel and it says "This installer can NOT continue! THere is no known vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii. Please note that we will not use a fakesigned IOS due to security reasons."

So at this point im trying to downgrade back to 4.1, i downloaded the downgrade package, go into Wadmanager, select IOS249, and it just freezes and i have to unplug the Wii.

Any ideas how to get my wii hacked the right way again? At this point im ready to restore one of my backups onto the wii, but its from october.. and i would prefer not to.

None of my backups show up in the disc channel anymore either..

Everything seems to have worked brilliantly. Now my question is can I delete "AnyTitle Deleter" or Trucha Bug Restorer. I'd like to make the system child/foolproof. Is it okay to get rid of those so that someone can't brick the Wii. If so, how would I go about doing that. Thanks for the excellent guide.

guide worked fine on two of my friends wii's who were on pal 4.1e and updated to 4.2e with cios 249. Installing the hermes 222 drivers also helped in sorting out the issue with one of them with playing and synching his rock band 1 instruments with rockband the beatles and other games as long as he used 'usb loader cfg' with ios 222mload or 223mload via USB.

yeah and if you get a no disc error, then you most likely have a d3-2 drive which cant read any disc backups at all

oh my! before i do research on this Im going to, on impluse, ask you.

can you tell me or direct me to where i can find more info on d3-2 drives?

my main question being how can you know if your wii has one. and can i expect all new wiis to have them?

Its not the end of the world, you can still play games off a usb but im sure if u searching in google you'd find all the info u want. basically it just means that u cant play backup discs at all because the wii can not physically read them.

ya im surpised how little information there is about. i really think the guide should be updated with this info.

what i cant figure out is how every source tells me a number of serial codes that have this problem but none of them include the serial number of my wii. odd.

i wish i can find an updated and definitive source regarding this issue..damn

i also second this. it took me 3 hours of searching to find the answer.

what alot of people dont realize is that using the search tool is not easy. i would love it if i could search within a thread and not a category or section of the site.. alas.

A bit of trouble here, I was on 3.2 and I performed the 'Update To 4.2' section fine, following every single bit and had no problems with anything. However, in the 'Modify 4.2' section, when I am trying to launch the bannerbomb in the same way I did in the first section the Wii hangs as soon as I choose SD Card.

Any idea what I should be doing or do I need to repeat this bit given that installing the Homebrew Channel, DVDX and Bootmii as IOS & boot2 went fine via the bannerbomb in the first section?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - I realised I made a mistake and deleted the entire SD Card following section one instead of just what was in Update.zip. I doubt I'm the only person to have done this though. As such, is there any way to get the required file(s) back? Can the process from the first section be run again?

In his next post Kempston wrote nevermind i sorted it out. I made this exact same mistake can anyone tell me how to sort this out?

A common mistake is choosing the sd card in the System settings instead of the sd card menu from the main system menu, doing it this way will cause the wii to freeze, click the little sd card at the bottom of the screen on the main menu, if the wii freezes when you do this, i dont know whats wrong..

If you have finished the modify 4.2 part then you can delete everything from the SD card. Just make sure you have stored the nand.bin, keys.bin and bootmii folder somewhere safe on the computer.

Hey, My brother put a passcode on my iPhone through the Settings/General/Restrictions and now I dont have safari anymore. This brings up some big problems since I can't access most Wi-fi hotspots because they require me to log in and I dont have Safari to do so. So please please please help! either on how to bypass restrictions or how to access log into Wifi hotspots without the safari icon.

Okay, I just installed USBLoader GX after the steps from the TC. Whenever I try to run a game, I get a black screen. Is there any way to fix this?

The only way you can find out for sure is if you open up the wii and look at the drive. But if you go through the guide and everything goes correctly, but you still get errors when trying to load your backups, it's more than likely you have a D3-2.
