Hmm... Is there any difference between the black PSP Ratchet and Clank bundle and the silver PSP Ratchet and Clank bundle? Just want to know before I get the wrong one and realize I can't hack it till it is too late.

Not all bundles are equally available, I'd recommend that you buy the cheapest bundle you can find and just download the games.

There aren't 20 colors to choose from and the games are inappropriate for resale (just comes as UMD in a paper slip) so I don't see much difference between the bundles with 5.03 or lower firmware.

Has anyone figured out the Assassins Creed bundle firmware version? The old lady and I have discussed our presents openly. She will buy me a PSP if I buy her some portable HD video player. So in light of this awesome news I need to make sure the PSP I get can be setup to run emulators (nes/snes the best). I know all the steps but I am scared that all the bundles currently available are already to high a firmware >5.03. All stores seem to stock the Assassins Creed bundle pretty hard, so I am crossing my fingers that it will work.

Anyone do any research?

Update:
- Read this thread more carefully. It seems the Creed bundle if 5.51 which means I am also screwed. I can only find the Rockband bundle or pink Hanna Montana crap. I'd go with the Rockband bundle but fear it has been updated.

So the major question is. Can one buy a PSP3000 without being part of a bundle and guarantee a particular firmware is loaded onto it?

` regret .

They have a PSP 3000 Core System or something on Amazon, not sure of firmware.

After lots of looking around, one of the oldest released bundles I can find around here,
of which the color of the PSP appeals to me, is the Buzz bundle.
It's a Radiant Red PSP-3000 bundle with Buzz (don't know the full name of the game as localization made them translate it into dutch).

The boxes seemed fairly worn out and logic thinking leads me to believe those will have older firmwares.
Is there anything known about these bundles?

Just a little friendly info for everyone:

All of this information comes from my firsthand experience shopping at a GameStop in America.

I bought a Dissidia bundle on the 26th. Unfortunately, it had a minor defect and I like to nitpick, so I exchanged it today for another Dissidia bundle.

The first one I picked up had firmware 5.01 on it, as the first post states.

The one I got today had firmware 4.20 on it.

And for anyone who doesn't actually know what the Dissidia bundle comes with (I mention this because it's actually a pretty nice deal price-wise), it contains the "mystic silver" colored PSP-3000, a copy of Dissidia (obviously), the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie on UMD, and a 2GB MemStick Pro Duo.

I hope this info helps a few of you out. I had no trouble getting custom firmware up and running on it, and am currently enjoying my newly modified PSP despite the limited 2GB MemStick. Of course, that'll change as soon as I order a bigger one. For anyone who's curious, I simply followed the tutorial found here and it worked perfectly.

Anyone know if PSP-3000 supports 32GB MemSticks? I read that it only supports up to 16GB (which is all I'm looking to pay for right now anyway), but I'd like to make sure for future reference.
