You are aware that no chip ships with autoboot enabled by default ? Meaning you need to put the chip in a working Wii and then enable autoboot, well as far as I know.

You said.....

"I will try again later. I know my system menu is inteact just installed IOS60 downloaded though NUS."

How did you install the IOS ?

I installed it as a wad. I know prob a bad idea. Don't know why I went screwing with shit as it's been working for over a year without issue.

How did you launch wad manager though ?

I'm only asking because if you can install IOS, you can install a working sys menu, other IOS and even deleted faulty things on the Wii.

So how did you boot the app you used to install the wad ?

btw, this type of brick (black screen) can be a few other things like fooked up settings files, or some other things.

I DO think you will get this sorted without a chip now.

Well it is still under warrenty, so nintendo might be an option if the chip fails to autoboot a disc for me. I'll just keep the chip incase it comes back with the 4.2 update on it. Just not sure if they will turn around and charge me for fixing it due to homebrew apps being loaded.

Nah, just say you tried to update and it wouldn't work. They have no way to tell what's on there if it can't boot at all.

so get a modchip, configure it to autoboot on another wii like slimmmmm said and then burn an autobootable HBC (can do it yourself or find it on the web), run HBC then reinstall IOS60 from cIOScrap or betetr: get a clean IOS60
wink.gif

EDIT in fact an autobootable HBC should be running on a cIOScorped wii, I mean you shoul be able to fix this without chip

Dude, since you stubbed IOS60, the system menu wont be able to run and you most likely cant boot.
I would suggest sending your wii to Nintendo.

Edit:
Didn't see page 2.

Well see I installed IOS60 downloaded though NUS downloader and that's what caused the brick. Up untill I installed that my system was working perfect.

Using system menu 4.1

Well sorry, but I'm pretty certain there's no easy way to fix this. Seeing as your Wii is still under warranty DO NOT OPEN IT UP, AT ALL, that will just invalidate the warranty. Send it off to Nintendo with an explanation of "I got a message to update my wii, and now it won't turn on". They may not believe you, but have no way to prove otherwise. If you do open it up you'll almost certainly invalidate your warranty and still not be able to fix it.

Hi guys, I tried to install USB Loader GX using a guide.

In this guide it asked me to install IOS60 and the USB Loader GX Channel, I did so and I restarted my Wii. I got the "System Files are corrupt screen", so I opened Preloader and uninstalled both of the stuff as I thought you should do if something bricked your Wii but I didn't think of that I was uninstalling a IOS file, anyways long story short. I got the black screens too, is there a way to fix this without getting a modchip or sending it to Nintendo(The warranty went out last year)?

Sorry for "hijacking" your thread.

At the point, where your Wii said "System Files are corrupt" you had the possibility to fix it, but now there is nothing else than sending it to Nintendo.

I do know that but I was foolish enough to uninstall the IOS60. Anyways I send an email to Nintendo saying that I tried to install Firmware 4.2 and now all I can hope for is that they believe it and repair the console for free. Is there a way for Nintendo to find out that I did not try to install 4.2 and did this instead?

yes for sure, the can detect HAXX JODI DVDX channels, they can check for trucha signed IOSes
I said they can, does not mean they have time to do it
Anyway it's a bad idea to send a hacked wii to mister N

I'm pretty sure that I don't have any hacked DVD channels, I might have one or two trucha signed IOSes.

I maybe should type here that I only softmodded my Wii so I could play games on the Back Up Loader. I used Gamma launcher before, and then I upgraded to 4.0(or 4.1, not sure) through a guide, installed Preloader and started using NeoGamma. What happens if they do detect that it is a hacked console?

Sorry for asking so many quests.

I just had a thought. Since my IOS60 isn't the same one as in the 4.1 update, if I could find a game with the 4.1 update on it and autoboot it with a modchip would it see that my IOS60 is not the correct version for system menu 4.1 and want to update?

I'm just grasping at straws. I've already filled out the repair info for the big N but am just worried that it will either come back not fixed or I'll get charged for it.

@ the OP

You said these 2 things...

fringle said:

and

QUOTE(fringle @ Nov 10 2009, 03:50 PM) I installed it as a wad

I still don't know what you used, I'm going to guess wad manager, but how did you boot it ?????

Your brick is one of a few different things. The most common would be sys menu OR Sys Menu IOS OR both.
You said you installed a wad of an IOS so your Wii is not bricked if it is just what I mentioned. If you can install IOS, all you need to do is install a sys menu wad and matching (non stubbed IOS) this would rule out that. There are still other things to repair/fix Wii settings, delete or install various files on the Wii etc. But I was under the impression you couldn't boot homebrew.

If you want help to get fixed you need to explain things in more detail. How did you manage to install the IOS wad AFTER your Wii was bricked ? What app and method for loading it ? (If you can load homebrew then your far from a brick just now)

Slimmmmmm this is what I did. My wii was working perfectly fine. Then I decided to load up wad manager and install the bad ios60. When I rebooted my wii black screened. So since ios60 bricked my wii I have not been able to boot it. I was thinking a mod chip would boot an autoboot game but don't know if this is the case with out a working IOS60 and that the game with an update version of 4.1 would see that my ios60 is not the correct one and preform the update and reinstall the ios and system menu
