How do I get subtitles opaque without black rectangles behind them? I looked through the man page for mplayer and I can't make left or right of it.

Hey all,

This may be a known issue, I've searched for it before to no avail, so I figured I'd ask here.

Ever since I began using MPlayer (great program by the way) last year(August...ish...?). I have been plagued with completely random freezes. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to them either. I can load from SD, USB or DVD and have used multiple versions of the program but every so often the wii just locks up and starts emitting the most irritating sound in existance. I have to turn it off and restart. I can reload the video and it may not happen the next time. Like I said completely random. Any one else experience this or know what the cause might be.

Again if this is a known issue and has already been discussed I apologize for the repeat post, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks,
Jim.

xvid/divx (basically .avi files) work perfectly for me. mp4 and mkv however, they play but are very laggy and the video and audio arent in sync.

I'm playing MKV files just fine (other than that it crashes if I so much as touch the remote once it starts playing). It's just that the subtitles are transparent and very difficult to read more than three feet away for me.

the wii is definitely powerful enough to play mkv files.
i'm sure it is just one of things that will improve with each version released.

DVDx in the hackmii installer doesn't support DVD playback.

Install Patchmii_core. Then DVDx in Advanced Mode with IOS254.

It does support dvd playback. i couldnt ever get dvdx installed via advanced mode or any mode till the hackmii installer came out. and when i used it to install dvdx i tried dvd playback with it and mplayer ce v5 and it plays dvd but choppy.

i found an old version of mplayer that is not tagged custom edition and dvd playback plays just as good as any other player i have except for trying to figure out all the commands on the wiimote

I'm at work so I can't test it at the moment, but I have a Wii with cIOS rev 10 installed and the cIOS Corp packages installed.

I am currently using MPlayer CE 0.4, and when I tried using 0.5, 0.6 and 0.61, the background loads but then the program appears to freeze and the menu does not load.

I'm guessing I need to use the Hermes cIOS Installer from the Google code page to update the cIOS (and DVDx?).

I'm just wondering if my assumptions are correct. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for brining in your negativity into my life and undermining my hard work and effort.
If you consider the very infrequent posts clutter (4 posts in the last week), then you need to check your head. It must be cluttered with confetti, marbles, and bull$hit.
Don't like my blog.. don't visit it. There's nothing in my posts forcing you. Just click download, and be on your way.
Simple as that.
