i have fixed the above problem from the disc spin bug by changing the Ignore Standy Setting to on (in Settings)

...but when i have Ignore Standby Setting on in PreLoader Settings, the Wii standby is off (red light).

is there any way to keep Wii standby on (orange light) and not have the disc spin when the Wii is off?
i have not figured out a way to do this.

Hacks:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To install additional System Menu patches, simply copy the "hacks.ini" file
included with preloader into the root of your SD card.
Then, boot into preloader's settings, and chose to enable or disable the patches
in the Hack Settings menu.

Once applied, your patches are placed in NAND, so feel free to erase the file
on your SD card.

The format for adding additional hacks, or patches, to your hacks.ini file is simple
and should explain itself.

so once i do this part, it should prevent me from bricks, correct?

There are still a few which don't work even if theyre listed:

i.e personally i've found region free channels on the sd menu doesn't work on 4.0E

I think I found another couple but can't recall off hand.

because the system menu (which is using ios249 on your wii) is a cIOS. So it reads backups.

But each game uses a differrent IOS to run, so you need to install a Custom IOS of whichever IOS the game you are trying to boot uses, for it to read the backup any further than the wii menu.

And how do I know which IOS each game need?

With cIOSCORP in 3.2 I didn't needed to do this, lol.

Of course you didn't, because cioscorp has the custom IOS dip patched into every IOS in the system, so no matter what IOS is called it's patched to read and use the backup disc.

you can enable IOS reload, if it's available (PAL only I think for 4.0 so far), or you can install cioscorp again.

I saw that has a cIOSCORP to 4.0U, it is safe to install with preloader in Wii?

Bump!

Quick question ,Im on 3.2e and using starfall but want to move to preloader 0.29 and wanting to know what i will gane from this over starfall?

Also can this be applied whilst starfall is on my system and if not whats the easiest way to remove starfall?

The main reason for wanting the change is iv read preloader doesn't need the twilight hack to be on the sd card to recover and is a safer/easier way to recover from bricks.....true/faulse?

cheers, paul

I applied the hacks with the top hack.ini. it seems I suffer from a few problems which may or may not be related to using the wrong hack.ini.

The problems are

1) original disc (mario kart pal) still spins after wii is turned off into standby
2) I get no picture when using an original SSBBrawl NTSC game. it works, you can hear the sound of it working but there is no picture.

-fixed a bug which broke system menu loading when the system got formated

Does this mean the wii won't be bricked if you format it with preloader 0.29 installed? I read that this would happen if you had older versions.

I haven't installed preloader because of this.. if it's fixed, i'll install preloader 0.29. Thanks.
