Let me start by saying that I've been a floating member at GBATemp for long enough to know to use "search" first - but I swear for the life of me that I just can't find a straight forward answer to this question.

I'm literally pulling my hair out and BEGGING somebody for some help in the way of clear guidlines.

I understand that I can get YSMenu to run on my M3 Simply? (original card not fake)
Can this also boot up as the main firmware on my M3 Simply?

I really need to know the full process to achieve this and the file structure I need?

Can somebody please PLEASE help me with this.

So far I have the following:

>>> r4ysauto.zip (lastest version as I understand)
>>> YSMenu0903211700.zip

I'm following the guide to make the M3 firmware (I think it generates it as an r$ firmware) - I then get the following files

TTMENU >>
gbaframe.bmp
info.dat
r4dldi.dat
r4patch.dat
system.ank
system.fon
system.l2u
system.u2l
ttreset.dat
USRCHEAT.DAT
YSMenu1.bmp
YSMenu2.bmp
YSMenu.ini

So from here I'm totally stuck. I've tried searching around and can't seem to find an answer. Can some kind soul PLEASE tell me what to do next so that I can save some instructions and never need bug anyone again. I assume somebody here has YSMenu working on the M3 Simply? What files do I need to put on my micro SD and what folders?

Thanks in advance!

I didn't see any M3 Simply support from the M3 Team..you should try the R4 thread since R4=M3 Simply and there are tutorias on how to do it

Hey me again.

Well I've gone through the R4 section and did a search on YSMenu. I see a few guides but none seem to guide you from from point one to the the very end.

I'm as far as generating the above files above as I've stated, but I just don't know what to do next. If I dump these files created in the TTMENU folder into the root of my microSD card the M3 Simply just says _DS_MENU.DAT is missing?

I'm lost, there must be somebody on here that has YSMenu working on an M3 Simply that can just share some help, or at least somebody that can help me.

PLEASE, just a little help or guidance will be eternally grateful.

If somebody can help, I'm even keen to make an absolute idiots guide to this whole process to try and help others as I'm sure I can't be the only person suffering here?

a2h, thanks for the reply. At least it`s constructive.

The problem I`m having, I feel, is not so much the generating of the files but the actual process and execution to get it working on my M3 Simply.

Firstly, I haven`t tried your generator yet, but that`s only because I haven`t yet installed .net framework. However, what I need to know is once I generate the files into a "firmware" I get the above files (my first post). I assume that your generatoratron tooly thingymibob will just simply make the same files? Is this correct?

I have used and I`m trying to use R4YSAuto to make the files. But from there I`m stumped.

Also, I don`t have the _DS_MENU.DAT file on my microSD card as I was under the impression I needed to format my card and just dump the above files into the root. Is this wrong? If I leave the _DS_MENU.DAT on my card it just boots the M3 firmware.

I`m still in the strong belief that somebody on here has YSMenu working and auto-booting on an M3 Simply card. I just need to find that person, convince them to speak up and help me to get to the bottom of this.

Failing that, just somebody who knows what to and that enjoys typing on a keyboard (like me) - it`s just frustrating to think that if it were the other way around I`d be more than happy to type a comprehensive guide up to help out [which I intend to do] or even just talk somebody through the process. It seems odd to me that somebody can quite happily use the energy to tell somebody else to use google or search for a guide instead of just helping provide a solution to a problem. I have genuinely tried both. And yet to no avail. I`m not setting out to anger people into educating me how to "search" - but if you can`t actually help or don`t know that answer there`s no point even posting.

I`m not asking somebody to do all the leg work for me, just some guidance on the whole process - start to finish.

I`m yet to give up on the good will of helpful members!

I just got YSMenu/R4YSauto working on my M3 DS Simply so let's see if this works.

1. Go here: http://home.usay.jp/pc/etc/nds/
2. Scroll down the Japanese page--it won't be on the Engrish version--and download YSMenu
3. Rename the compressed file to: YSMenu0810211800
4. Move the file to a newly created folder on the Desktop named: M3DSS
4. Download this: http://62.50.15.93/~koen/hbdb/YSMenu/002/r4ysauto.zip
5. Extract file to the M3DSS folder on the Desktop.
6. Download this: http://62.50.15.93/~koen/hbdb/YSMenu/002/update.zip
7. Extract file to the M3DSS folder on the Desktop.
8. Run r4.bat (it will update) and it will generate the .DAT file and TTMENU folder.
9. Move the new files to your M3 DS Simply... viola. (Move and Replace all--which is 2 files)
10. Turn it on and you'll be booting into YSMenu on your M3 DS Simply.

Tried this out and it worked first time. It would appear the only step I was missing was the "Update" file. I think somewhere along the lines of trying, trying again and trying some more and then getting frustrated - I thought the R4YSauto I downloaded had the update included!

Turns out the only file I was missing was the "_DS_MENU.DAT" file that gets created when you have the update installed.
