Then what am I supposed to do when the trial is over? I wasn't able to obtain a key.

Actually, almost nobody has been able to get a key yet, except me of course (Cruddy Buddy Wins!) but that's only because I'm super-smart. Just hang in there and everyone who wants a key should have one within the next 24 hours.

reformatting means wiping... FYI

I think Cruddy is having anal with W7... Why do you like it so much?

The speed and the new taskbar!

The new taskbar sucks
unsure.gif

It looks out of place.

The new taskbar is made of bacon so shut up!
posting pics of XP proves nothing and how much faster. @ %95

I didn't know I was supposed to prove anything.

And, moderately faster.

I love the new taskbar. I think it functions just fine, and I've grown used to it. And if you don't like the big icons, you can just go to taskbar properties and check "use small icons." Then it'll look just like vista again.

I installed W7 on my 6 year old self built desktop recently, and had no problems whatsoever. 2.6GHz, 1.5GB ram, very dated video card, and still smooth. I would have to agree that this beta is a better product than Vista SP1 already.

Is there a way to make the text show up too like in Vista? And how do I remove the Send Feedback link?

it even installs fast!

I was surprised when I first installed it. I was thinking, "This is IT? Why didn't it reboot five times while it was installing? Where are the millions of questions asking me to set up my network and watch some stupid video and all that other crap?" Yes, the installation is crazy fast.

What's different from vista? It looks pretty much the same to me.
Numerous performance tweaks at both the application and kernel level bringing it to match or best the performance of XP. A redesigned task bar and numerous interface tweaks. Its nothing smashing but its more like "What Vista should of been the first time". Mind you, one of my boxes has Vista 64 and I'm quite satisfied with it. Since a lot of users are reporting very positive results on netbooks and 5 year old laptops, I think its worth a shot just to try.

Edit: I found a list of changes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_7

The feature I'm looking forward to the most (but its probably the silliest feature too) is that dragging a window to the left edge and then another to the right edge cause the two windows to each automatically fill half of their respective sides.

Edit 2: Oh and most of the bloatware such as Windows Live Mail, Movie Maker, Photo Gallery, Toobar are not included in the OS. They are downloaded as extras in a package called Windows Live Essentials giving you the option to live without them.

Just installed it. Fast install. Long wait for it to start but once it did, I barely had time to sit down before it finished. It's alot like Vista. New toolbar is nice on cutting down space, but it takes some getting used to. Control Panel is still a maze for those used to XP. It really is what Vista should have been performance wise though. Fast start up. UAC is simpler to disable this time around. Still have the same audio issues with my sound card I had in vista, but I'm sure that's Creative's fault. Also having refresh rate issues, because I can't install my monitor drivers on a 64 bit OS >.> I'll probably use Windows 7 when it comes out, and when I finally get my hands on a new comp/monitor. Until then, I love me some XP. I'ma prolly stick with this till the 30 days are up, and just reinstall XP. Was looking to reformat anyway. GG.
