Yep. I've read the wiki guide (and found it very helpful, thankyou).

I'd like to read what people actually say about the retailers - not just a yes/no

And it's too much of a hubbub in this thread to find by region.

Not slagging wollysheep. I'm thankful for all efforts he made - my job was much easier

Only thing to add is that if you look at the resellers for wasabi home page, there's a lot of European professional looking web sites that aren't included on the wiki

When I finally receive my Wii (after much rateing) I'll add my experience to this thread

I live in the US so I used modchipcentral.com to get my chip. It was a great experience and I would buy from them again if I needed to.

I just made an order from mod central. It was a tossup between mod central and Canada mods. It was a bit cheaper for mod central than Canada mods, so I went with mod central for my d2pro9 pre-soldered wii-clip for d2b. It was a tough decision between d2pro9 and wasabi but the reviews from the scene and even from dealers seem to be they get better support from d2pro9 than wasabi.

So did I make a good choice by choosing mod central over Canada mods. This was a hard decision for me to make but this guide of place to buy chips helped me narrow it down

Thanks for the guide.

It's a yes to OzModChips. I bought a Wii-Clip V3 with a WiiKey soldered on and a Triwing, and it dispatched the same day as I bought it. Not received it yet, but it should take about a week. Very good service, great prices, great site...Highly recommended!

It took a week as planned, came with everything I asked, everything works...Recommended again!

I bought a Key-Clip from Dealextreme... The Clip seemed authentic, and as always, the transaction went very smoothly. And it wasn't expensive!

I had pretty strenuous experience with modchip central.

My first order arrived in 10 days DOA. I have my ideas as to the problem but I'll keep them private as I have no proof. I will say that it seems like several people who ordered at the same time as me also had problems.

It took quite awhile to convince them that the chip really was bad. I understand they deal with a lot of little kids and irresponsible people but it got to the point of being very annoying. I was being told to "go buy this brand of disc" then "well go buy this brand and try it with this software." At some point they should take the customer's word for it and move on. I eventually got an RMA and sent the chip back to canada.

I had to email them a few times to get a notification that they had received the chip and I told them what I wanted to replace it with. I waited... waited... waited. After 14 days I started sending emails and could not get a reply. Eventually I used the form on their website to send an email and got a reply saying "we never received your chip". I forwarded them the email where they said they had received it and they said basically said "oh yeah we did receive it". Very annoying.

After 2 months or so of haggling with these guys I finally have a working chip. The replacement chip has a hologram on the wii-clip which the original did not have. I'm not sure if that is significant.

I would not do business with them again.

The reason we stated in your later e-mails that we did not receive your RMA is because you e-mailed us originally to see if it has arrived and we take them out of the package to test it and informed you that it did arrive.

Then when you e-mailed the 2nd time asking about your RMA, it was obviously not in our RMA box because it was already taken out when you e-mailed us the first time regarding it.

We always ask the customer what brand discs they are using and whanot as a lot of the times that is the only issue. We respond to each and every e-mail sent. Strange how you were sending us e-mails without getting a response, and then all of a sudden received a response using our Contact Us form. Perhaps your mail server was rejecting our e-mail?

Needless to say, we do take care of each and every customer. Unfortunately RMA's can be timely...

Hmm I don't think so because the replies I received from the contact form were from the same address. Everyone should know that I did receive a prompt reply after using the contact form.

Thanks
