Ah ok thanks.. So I'm assuming Wii key is the chip i want to get with the region free...
Basically some games require a patcher to block the auto install for the firmware right?
Will original Japanese Wii Games on disc still work just fine?
NTSC-US to NTSC-J < Basically U.S Games on Disc/Copied tested on Jap Wii?

i got a crappy one premodded when i bought it
but they say wiikey is your best choice
if the chip is installed flawlessly,originals will still work
as for patcher yes you need it for some games but what ever you do do not update to 3.3

Hi everyone, I've got a 3.2J and want to make it US! Ie I don't want to have to patch any games or anything, and the menus in English too!
I know of the wii region changer.. exactly which settings do I need to change? I've searched a bit and the only part I really don't get is the 'country number' ie goes up to 200 or sth? So I need to change the menu, the system and the country number and the language? Change 4 things and it will be like a US machine?

i guess thats my problem then, lol. Thanks. I assumed all games have enighs in the iso somewhere.

I'm on 3.1J_v2 and running Mario Kart PAL and SMG NTSC-U without a hitch. Many thanks to Shredman and Donchen. I followed their instructions for Mario Kart and it worked on my first try. For SMG-U I brickblocked the iso and used wglp_v2 but I DID NOT remove the 001 error using Wii Generic Patcher. No idea which modchip I have but when I burned GCOS wiikey config disc 1.3 it appeared in the disc channel with the Gamecube logo. I was able to launch it and it showed a purple screen with the words "wiikey base config 1.2" or something like that (but I don't have a Gamecube controller so I had to turn it off :-( ). So this means I have a Wiikey right? And it must be atleast 1.9g or 1.9s because SMG worked without removing 001 error right? Or does any modchip detect a GCOS config disc (because in that case I might have a D2CKey or D2Pro)? Thanks in advance!
