If they're trimmed they won't identify, would be nice to see this fixed, although I'm content with it as it is, although how would I manually identify them?

Same question here.

There is something weird with the manager, it lists some of my roms as trimmed when they are not. The size of them on disk is exactly as it should.

That's EXCELENT I have used offlinelist, NDScrc, Rominator and this is by far the BEST!!!
Rominator has a lot of features, but it only manages the roms you currently have, so you don't see the realease list. NDScrc is great as well, but it lacks teh ability to extract multiple files or even trim them.

Congrats on a great program!!!

Maybe I missed something, but I can't view the missing files like you do on NDScrc.
Can you view miss files on RToolDS? If not, PLEASE implement this feature as I can't imagine it would be that much trouble and this way we wouldn't need to use two programs.

Request:

I would like to see that we can set the filter to show only USA / EUROPE roms and for the language e.g. only DUTCH and English.

Furthermore It would be fine to see the offline List implemented in RToolDS to see which roms are available so that you can which roms we have and which roms are still missing.

In this way RToolDS is the only program we need

Got a few questions about the use of this proggie.

I'm rather new to all this, so i'm a bit at a loss and need some help.
I managed to collect all US roms avaiable. I chose to keep only these as they are guaranteed to come in English.
Had a rough time organizing everything as some were in .zip, others in .rar and some in .7z.
As i'm an apologist for clean organisation i turned everything to .zip (yes i know .rar and especialy .7z are more eficient, but some emus (i'm not talking about the DS) don't recognize .7z, and i don't realy like .rar, its good but i never symphatized with the format).

During the whole conversion process i noticed that some rom folders had covers, icons and gameplay images, plus an .nfo, but many don't.
I'm still waiting on a cart (my first) so i'm playing it by ear until.
I've seen images and videos in where the rom selection screen is accompanied by an icon exclusive for that title.
And this is where my questions beguin.

Do i need to have the icons in the folders of each rom in order to see them on the rom selection screen on the DS, or do the roms allready have the icon inbedded from the start?

In case i have to add the icons myself, is there a simple way (perhaps a program) to automaticaly add the icons, or do i have to do it all manualy? (got a folder i downloaded from these forums with icons for all roms from 0001 to 2761, its not all, but its most of them).
It would be a very boring procedure to manualy separate and add the icons one by one, so an alternative would be great.

About RToolDS

I'm using it for the first time, and my first impression was favourable, but still it didn't quite do what i was expecting it to.
When i saw the databased beeing formed, i tought "Hey, cool, its adding all the icons and artwork to each rom file all by itself".
It turns out that it was simply forming the database for presentation, i got my hopes up for nothing.

Is there a way to use RToolDS to tranfer at least the icons to the corresponding rom folders?

All my questions will turn into moot points if the icons are inbedded in the roms from the get go, but still condering that i don't know much about this, i must ask nonetheless.

As a database, RToolDS is still quite usefull and a very good looking aplication, but it can and should be improved with a few "simple" features.
A full updatable database with filter managment (for continent and genre for example ) in wich we can confirm wich roms we have and wich ones are missing would be a very usefull addition.

BTW, what is a Link Device, and how do i use it?

Sorry for the essay.

I really like RToolDS, it has replaced Rominator and the good old R4Commander for me. But I've just recently discovered a strange bug: It only shows 177 of my approx. 400 roms. I'm fairly certain that it displayed them all until a couple of days ago. Is there a limit to the size of the rom list? Is anybody else experiencing the same problem?

Sorry for resurrecting an older thread, but I've got a question. How would I get RToolDS to recognize multiple rom folders on my SDHC card?

Here's an exaggerated view of how I have my CycloDS' card set up.

Code:
+
|\Roms
| +A
| +B
| +C
| +D... And so on till Z
+\Saves
Basically, the roms are sorted by letter in folders. Animal Crossing in A, MegaMan ZX in M, and so on. I do this because the CycloDS (and probably other cards) have a problem displaying more than 128 files at a time.

Any clue how this could be done? I see in the Options menu, Misc tab, there is an option to "Auto Scan Sub-Directories on Device to Find ROMs", but it's greyed out, not letting me do anything with it.

Note: I'm using version 0.3.1382 Beta

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I like this program.

There some things missing.

1. If I move a Rom from the folder and I update everything it gets deleted off that list (I know the info stays kept in my computer but I wanted to stay in the list)

2. The trimmed Roms are not detected, why not? Are they only detected by Rom number?

3. How can I download all the Roms archive without having a single Rom? (It's kind of useful to see the game cover art and a sample picture of the game. This way it's like visiting a store to see what looks interesting before downloading Roms or buying Games)

4. I also want to use the program as a game organizer (sort of like a DVD organizer)

This is what I notice so far.

1. If you remove a rom outside of the scope of where the program is looking, how is it supposed to know you still have it and didn't delete it?

2. Already trimmed ROMs are not detected because they fail the CRC check that's in the database. I keep all my roms untrimmed and let the prog trim them when they are copied to the flash cart.

I also have this problem although I am only seeing about 115 of the roms in my list. Does anyone know the cause of this?

Rtoolds doesnt work for me. I am using Windows 7 x64, anyone have the same system and got it working?

It just opens the program, but doesn't show anything. I have to kill the procces manually. Tried lots of compatiblity modes. Once I got this error log:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "RToolDS.py", line 104, in
File "wx\_core.pyo", line 14505, in __getattr__
wx._core.PyDeadObjectError: The C++ part of the cDummyFrame object has been deleted, attribute access no longer allowed.

I've not done anything to it, it just works. The about box says the version is 0.3.1382 Beta

That's strange. I'll try again at home tonight, maybe it is because I didn't reboot the system after installation (a python program shouldn't need that afaik).

I don't use Windows very often, only to run things that doesn't run at all in Linux.

A Linux version even being an alpha version would be very nice.

EDIT: Still no go. It just opens the program, an icon appear in the taskbar, but nothing happens if I click it. The preview miniature shows a gray screen and it doesn't close if I tell it to. I have to manually kill the process..

Ok so far this app seems quite nice. I came here in search of a rename tool, nothing more really. And to my disappointment it would seem this is not what I want. However I love the interface and hope maybe it would be of use. The screen shot DB is quite impressive.

Hopping for: A way to rename all of my files, screen shots, icons, box images the same names.
Settling for: just a rom a renamer tool.

Also this trim feature? I dont use games for pirating to say, I use them for emulators. I'm not suggesting any other means is wrong, but I have no use for that. Will trimming roms make them smaller and usable in emulators?

Thx for all the hard work, hope to use this app soon!

You can only use this program to rename files that are being copied to the device, it's in the options.

I would love a batch renaming tool for ROMs but I haven't heard of any that use the header data to do so. This is the only one I'm aware of, but only does it when copying to device/mSD.

Trimming is only really useful for using ROMs with flashcarts because of limited ROM storage.

You use NdsCRC.

It uses the same database file (ADvancene) as RToolDS and works wonders. NdsCRC and RToolDS work very well together.

It can package the screen shoots, icons etc all into a single archive along with the ROM.
