SuperModel NX v1.0
A Sega Model 3 arcade emulator for Nintendo Switch, forked from Supermodel
What is it?
SuperModel NX is a standalone homebrew (.nro) port of Supermodel, the Sega Model 3 arcade emulator, built on Libretro-Supermodel for its ARM64 recompiler.
Features
- PowerPC → ARM64 recompiler (JIT), including floating point
- Game list showing the games on your SD card, settings on the + button
- Press − and + together during a game to go back to the game list
- Resolution selector (1280x720, 960x540, 854x480)
- On-screen FPS counter
- Joy-Con / Pro Controller mappings out of the box
Requirements
- Nintendo Switch with Atmosphère (the recompiler needs it)
- Launch in title mode (hold R while opening a game) for full memory
- Overclocking (e.g. sys-clk) is recommended for Step 2.x games
Installation
- Extract the zip to the root of your SD card
- Put your own MAME-style ROM zips in /switch/supermodel/ROMs/
- Optional: put your own NVRAM files in /switch/supermodel/NVRAM/ (e.g. daytona2.nv), or set each game up once in its test menu (Test = right stick click)
Performance
Tested on a v1 Switch with overclock. Daytona USA 2 runs at around 47 FPS in races at 960x540 (not full speed yet), and menus/attract mode run at 60 FPS. Lighter games should run better. For demanding games, choose 960x540 in Settings → Video.
Known issues
- Step 2.x games are not full speed yet
- Only tested on real hardware; Ryujinx/Eden are not supported
- Some games may need their own NVRAM or a one-time cabinet setup in the test menu
