Stop Updating: AMD will use Vibecoding for Slop Software Development

I hate to be that guy, but AI assisted coding isn’t the problem. The problem is the stark reliance on AI and refusal to acknowledge this. If the drivers work, I genuinely don’t see the problem.
one goes along with the other.
people arent using AI because they like it so much, they want it used so they can fire people.

and... no, the drivers wont work. Nvidia went for vibecoding well ahead of AMD, you can google how well THAT went.
... 5 trillion dollar company btw.

call me negative, its fine, but trust is earned, not given and i dont trust the current tech-industry one bit

The problem with your logic is this: Nvidia and faulty drivers go hand in hand. They’ve been doing it since god knows when and AI didn’t make it worse, I can promise you. Causation and correlation and all that stuff. They’d be breaking shit without AI. AMD has a similar track record, though not as extreme. Microsoft is also using AI, but their drivers have been shit since the dawn of time. I’ve been turning off their driver update shit since 2007… and what’s their valuation at? Hmmm… irrelevant information :)

It’s not a matter of whether you’re being negative or positive, or even neutral. You’re being subjective. Keep an impartial, yet objective view point and you’ll see that AI isn’t the issue. It’s the people. It’s always the people.

aren't they one of the primary reasons vista had a rough start? (as well as retailers putting it on PCs that couldn't run it)

I'm so happy that my drivers are going to get worse over time /s. I don't really understand the defenses of genAI people are making in here. It's not like those data centers are contributing to global warming by producing greenhouse gasses into our air or screwing up the health of the surrounding neighborhood, especially asthmatic-affective folks, on top of the low-frequency infrasound they produce at all times, causing a number of issues like nausea, dizziness, lethargy, and more. It's not like genAI is being built to undermine legitimate human data, history, and art to take power away from the working class by disrupting every single industry field by getting people dependent on a tool that does not foster any learning, teaching habits, or creativity from the very nature of 'machine gives me a straight answer but it's wrong most of the time and cannot interpret any inner-meaning from the material it derives from like humans can'. It's not like genAI companies like Anthropic or companies utilizing it like Microsoft have given contracts to the US military to kill people in foreign countries or anything.

people cant see their own demise.
remember that the volcano, mount vesuvius, near pompeii didnt just suddenly erupt, the ground was shaking like a motherfucker for quite a while... but they just couldnt see what was happening or how this inevitably had to end.
pliny the elder actually travelled TO see mount vesuvius erupt.
he wasnt even there when it began, he literally ran towards mortal doom.

Doom doesnt care if youre idealistic, curious or hopeful, it just kills you.
Some people sense danger and try to get away, some stay , and then some others run towards the danger.

i used to use nvidia cards for decades and you are mistaken. their drivers were the industry-best years ago for a long time.
AMD only got really good drivers the last few years.

Now it was the other way around for almost a year, where AMD drivers were vastly superior.

But thats about to change, Enshittifaction is gonna bring them to parity, finally. they can simply both be terrible.

Any AI assistance in programming is vibe coding now? Programming is like, the one job that AI can actually assist in competently

Windows 11 is a mess, and it's much harder for human coders to fix everything AI broke after the fact, which is why every new update fixes one thing and breaks ten others. The type of company to allow AI coding is the same type that's gonna be all-in on it and not put up any guardrails.

It's just the newest form of enshittification, but it's gonna be everywhere soon enough. Certain Linux distros will be the only refuge for those in the know.

Yep, couldnt agree more.
you remember the day when updates used to FIX shit?
now an update releases and we all quickly hide under our desks.

Can't wait to go 100% Linux, pretty much the only thing keeping my main rig on Win10 for the moment is gonna be Marvel Tokon's anti-cheat. Valve-issued Nvidia drivers would also be nice, but not a requirement.

i tried half a year ago, tried cachyos and popos, decided to give it another year.
had issues with it, reported the bugs and went back.

Mint has been my favorite for everything non-gaming, super easy to learn and adapt to coming from Windows. Have that running on my media server mini PC and old Lenovo laptop. Then there's my DIY Steam Machine and Steam Deck, both of course on SteamOS.

i used to love ubuntu back in the day. you remember those teenie-tiny eeepc notebooks?

i had one of those with ubuntu on. that was so sweet, i miss subnotebooks sometimes. my ultrabook is 13 inches and thats about as small as you can go feasibly with good hardware nowadays.
