I tested the latest version, including the hotfix, with a clean install.
The sound has improved significantly in Game Boy and Game Boy Color games; it now sounds just as it should.
The graphics look great; I'm using the “sharp” filter and the new “sharp bilinear” option, and the difference is noticeable. I should add that I use an original Wii and play at 480p.
The tabbed menu now works as intended and no longer affects Boktai games, so all games are now working.
The new frameskip feature speeds up the audio in games; just set it to 1, and Advance Guardian Heroes seems like it’s had a strong cup of coffee. However, in terms of gameplay, it’s smoother.
On the other hand, I have to set it to 4 for the character in Boktai 2 to run at normal speed, although setting it that high makes the jumps in the animation frames more noticeable. That said, the Boktai games still run at low FPS, and you can see that both the sound and overall speed run at around 45 FPS instead of 60 FPS (I don’t know the actual FPS, but this gives you an idea). I always mention the Boktai games because they’re the hardest to get running properly; if these games run well, the others will run perfectly, which is why I always test them on emulators.
Saves and save states work correctly, and everything is much more organized now—thanks for that.
For me, the only thing left is to optimize the Game Boy Advance emulation speed to boost the FPS not just in the Boktai games or Guardian Heroes, but in general for the more resource-intensive games. That, plus adding support for games like Yoshi Gravitation, and it would practically be complete.
And, please, add support for ZIP-compressed ROMs—having them unzipped takes up an extra 1 GB on my SD card. It really hurts to see that when I plug it into my computer. It must be one of those situations where a cute little kitten dies every minute.
Thank you very much for your work.
