Dekopon - (Mostly) Fullspeed 3DS Emulation on Nintendo Switch

Dekopon is a port of Azahar to the Nintendo Switch.

Performance is very title dependent, and will be improved with time, but many games can be played fullspeed right now, sometimes even with stock handheld clocks. (I do recommend at least bumping the CPU up to dev unit clocks in handheld just to reduce shader compilation stutter and smooth out some rough frame pacing.)

Depending on the game, you can get up to 4x resolution scaling at full speed in docked/handheld charging (although really 3x is all you need in handheld).
If you want to try any new3ds exclusive games, they won't run well. All four of the 3DS' cores run on a single emulation thread, so we're at a 1.2GHz difference (2GHz single core where as the 4 3DS cores each run at 804MHz) from what we would need (and architecture changes from 3DS to Switch cannot account for that much raw clock speed loss). The solution would be to split the emulation threads on new3DS games, but that's a ton of work for very very little gain.

See here for a full compatibility chart: Dekopon Compatibility Chart
Feel free to share your own compatibility findings here and I'll update the sheet accordingly. Also share any issues you have and I'll do my best to fix them.

Downloads can be found here: Releases
Along with the source code here: Source

ROMs default location is /switch/dekopon/roms/
All formats that Azahar natively supports are supported here too.

Different screen layouts can be cycled through via pressing the right stick.
Pressing '+' on a game shows information about it, including updates and dlc.

Enjoy!

Also if someone wants to make a better UI for this I wouldn't be offended. I can't make a good UI to save my life, but the one included at least kinda functions to get you into a game.
Excellent work

Is there any way to select a different language for the games? Currently, they all run in English.

As another user said language selector is missing.
L3 to swap screens would be a good adition.

What does New 3DS Mode do? I enabled it, but smash bros still detects it as a normal 3ds (no extra Zl, ZR and right stick)

Btw Smash bros runs perfect! I played at 2400/921/2300 x2 resolution and the shader compiling works very well with this game. (that much cpu is not needed but I guess the more the best)

That's really cool! Definitely gonna use it.
Just one question: does it already support mods through LayeredFS?
It's the same system Azahar uses to load mods. If so, what sd card path should we use to load our mods on Dekopon?

Thank you. It runs very well. However, with Fire Emblem Awakening and Fate, there is significant pop-in and stuttering. While these issues are resolved once the shader cache is generated, the pop-in and stuttering are quite noticeable during the initial playthrough. Overclock settings: 2600/1000/2933.
My tablet, which has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ or something, struggled to cache shaders for awakening during battles (using Citra, though), so at least the stuttering during battles is unavoidable.

What kind of overclocking is necessary?
Very much depends on the title. Quite a few don't require any, some require just a tiny bit, and a few require a bit more.

Not yet. It shouldn't be too hard to implement a toggle though.

R3 currently swaps screens. Is there a reason why L3 would need to also? I have L3 mapped to something new in my upcoming release, so hopefully it's fine without. New 3DS mode enables emulation of 4 cores at 802MHz rather than 2 at 268MHz. You really shouldn't enable it unless a game doesn't boot without it. ZL, ZR, and right stick should always be active regardless of whether than setting is on or not. I just tested smash myself and all of the n3ds exclusive buttons work as they should. (You could also easily do 3x res with that much GPU overclock).

No, I don't believe so, but it is a goal to get mod support working just like how Azahar does. That'll take longer to support/test though, so I can't promise that'll be in the next build.
Do cheats work on this one guys
Nope, not as of now. In the same camp as mod support mentioned above.
When trying to play Super Mario Maker, I get the mii character error and cant proceed
You can launch Mii Maker and create a mii if you dump the Mii Maker app from your real 3DS. That's what I had to do to get Mario Kart 7 to start.

Cool but still great to have one a 3ds working on a switch still thank for letting us know though
