Bill of materials for PS6 rumored to be $760.

I'll melt my beloved New 3DS XL in my microwave and livestream (deathstream?) myself eating it if the PS6 ships at a price below $999 US. This clown with his bill of materials list has no idea what will actually be in the PS6 nor what Sony will have to pay for those parts. The good news is that none of you will be spending $1K on a PS6 during 2026 as this will be a Christmas 2027 console at the earliest.
 
If that's for the OG/Slim, the Pro will be $1300~1500.

Consoles have lost their advantage when it's that expensive.

Some newer UE5 games struggle to even hit native 480p60 on the PS5.

Part of it is indifferent devs, but the PS6 is in no way unnecessary since these developers will never fix their bad habits.

You're presuming things don't get worse for PCs.

If anything, it may just extend the life of the current gen if people don't upgrade either due to cost or shortages/scalpers.

MS might actually have an advantage next gen if it really is just their version of the Steam Machine and can be used as a regular PC ala 1980s/early 90s microcomputers.

Imagine it [Disc Drive Add-On] costing $200 MSRP as "Pro" controllers are that price and higher I'll just refuse to buy a console with such ridiculous prices.

I wish M$ would release a Xbox Series X "Slim" version, similar to the One X which I honestly love using.

If it has DV support and either a disc drive or support for one, easy buy. That's actually one caveat about using the PS5 as my primary 4K player, no Dolby Vision. At least that I know of.

PS5 do have support for Dolby Atmos but I think you have to enable it manually. Also your out-device must of course support it and the game/movie.

Bill of Materials is a list of components used to design things, not a monetary bill. The media loves lowest common denominator, as usual.

Can I please fix this engineering mess on the roads, etc. before it deteriorates any more?

Again, this is not even a bill of materials; this is a cost estimate. How much longer must I tolerate you all having no clue what engineering is? Mr. Musk, if you somehow see this message, I understand now why my students who fill out W2 forms, file for patents, and are experts at logistics, lawsuit prevention, employee retention, marketing campaigns, dossiers, and handling warren buffett type investors a the age of sixteen as sole proprietors are a threat to your pathetic company now.
