Per Bloomberg, unnamed sources claim that the Nintendo Switch 2's production will be cut by 30% due to weaker than expected sales in the US market. Only four out of the planned six million units will be produced this quarter. The cuts in production aren't expected to impact sales, nor are they related to rising memory costs. Production may increase once more for stockpiling of a planned EU model, as tensions in the Middle East have begun causing export delays.

Takashi Mochizuki, highly known to make false claims using sources "that will not be named", including the time Nintendo had to call them out for being false (regarding the 4k Switch). Here's that source showing Nintendo shutting him down...

Also, far more reliable folks are calling them out on this one, including receipts leading where they likely got this "information".

And just in case you think this may just be Nintendo bias, Sony also gets shots by this person. In fact, on the subject of reduced production numbers....

this story is incredibly damaging, so if it's false, i await to see nintendo issue a statement :)

Sounds like you are choosing to believe the situation is true over actual facts that oppose it. The person who wrote the article in question is a known hack for making things up.

Is it really damaging? It might pressure people to hurry up and get a Switch 2 at pre RAMageddon pricing while they can.

Or it might convince people that are still on the fence that the Switch 2 is failing and better wait for something else.
Folks who would even read up on such news would also have the means to read up on how Nintendo increased their forecast prior. If a person is choosing to take the bad but not the good, then they were not exactly interested to begin with.

what facts? you posted two bluesky posts from someone who’s entire job is speculation, a link that was speculation on speculation, and a video that was speculation from someone who worked at the company 4 years ago. there’s literally no solid evidence going around anywhere here. if you think it’s false, and want to pull up nintendo correcting false claims, then we can wait for that to happen.

investors hearing that they are slowing down production is damaging to stock value. US stock has been trending down since august and is resembling 2024 numbers. it’s not historically terrible but compared to what it was months ago it’s not a great look.

before someone inevitably pipes up about this, yes, stock value is important. investment is the lifeblood of a publicly traded company. even a company as rich as nintendo still needs investment. they have thousands of employees and contractors they need to pay, offices they need to upkeep, servers they need to run, an inconceivable amount they need to set aside for taxes, and a myriad of other things that require lots and lots of money.

Showing the comparison of hardware base numbers 9 months out is speculation? The report on Foxconn is speculation? What kind of bizarro universe are you living in?

I even posted a link to Nintendo calling the person out on that previous false claim. Among your "words words words", did you actually look into anything in my post?

worthless word twisting. it's being used to dismiss the idea entirely, you're being obtuse

yes, it's speculating on where takashi got his numbers. "i think i know" is the first 4 words of the post

the rest of your post is dumb and i'm not going to bother to engage with you further, there's absolutely 0 discussion to be had

Figures, since you seem to be siding with the one that has been proven to make false claims.

It’s because everyone who wanted one at launch actually got one. Not to mention these things have had a lot of problems since launch. I personally had to have both the tablet and joycons replaced already. That’s never happened before. Add to that, the portable PC’s like the ROG Ally and Steam Deck, plus all in one devices like the AYN Thor, it’s a pretty sizable field. Even Sony wants to get in on the act with a portable PS5 basically for next gen that’ll cost $1,500 by the time it’s out. It’s not “ZOMG NINTENDO DYING!” It’s more smart inventory management. I can literally walk into almost any store and buy one today. Wait until they sell more to make more.
