[Completed Translation] Time Travelers

time_travelers_logo.png
After 8 years of research and translation, we can finally present you our final patch for the english fan translation of "Time Travelers" by Level5 on the 3DS.

We went through some years of stagnation and burnout. The team changed and got smaller. But we persevered, invested months over months in quality control, and now we're proud to release it!

The package you download is an app to apply the patch file to a .3ds or .cia version of the game. You're required to get your own decrypted dump of the game.
The app will create a Luma3DS LayeredFS-ready folder with all the necessary files in it. You just have to move that folder to the correct Luma3DS folder on your SD card.

Content

This patch contains the entire main story. However, there is post-game content which we did not include in this patch.
It was not our goal to translate the post-game content, and given how long this project already took, we decided to not pursue this further for now.

However, it's not impossible that the post-game content will be released at one point.

As for what you would miss out on: The post-game content is a kind of life-sim with the main heroine of "Time Travelers" to get to know her better and the world.

Documentation

If you're interested in creating a translation of this game for another language, we will document and give access to every tool we used/created and provide access to all our working files. Read up on everything here.

Last edited by onepiecefreak,
I thought that the vita already had its translation which also has the post end game translated that this miss
I would like to see that Vita translation, cause as far as we're aware, the game was never translated by any other team for any other platform. We know of a YouTube playthrough that subtitled the story. But the translations weren't too accurate at points, misses the post-game, and also doesn't care for menu's and TIPS.

is it possible to see the vita version get this translation?
We currently have no intention to work on a Vita version of this translation. We're looking into possibly porting it to PSP, but we simply have no proper dev environment or tools for Vita. And since you can play PSP games on Vita, maybe this would serve as a substitute.

Would it be possible to put this on the hShop with all the other great translations (PIctologica, aka Final Fantasy Picross, Great Ace Attorney, etc). Because nobody's made a patcher program native to 3DS / Vita (Got no PC). Guess I'd prefer the Vita version if were an option.

We won't (be able to) provide the translation to hshop. Great Ace Attorney is not on hshop because the group wanted it there, but because someone just uploaded it as an update CIA. That is not easily doable with our patch and how it provides the patched files to the game.

We also do not want to put time into writing a patcher like Scarlet Study provided for Great Ace Attorney, as it would require a ton of research and work for practically no benefit.

As explained previously, a Vita version will very likely never happen. At most a PSP version.

Hello. Would it be possible to apply this translation to the game rom? if so how to do it or where should I look for?

Yes, you could be able to get the patch applied to the ROM. However, using game patching via Luma3DS or emulators is easier to setup/remove and our offered way already. Just follow it and other comments in this thread for that.

Offering instructions or help to apply the patch to the ROM directly serves no practical purpose beyond making a patched ROM available, which goes against our guidelines due to piracy.

I see. Thanks for your answer!

Hi, is it possible to patching game with this translation without Layered FS? I had old 3DS, from my experience with other mod with Layered FS, the game become laggy or stuttering

Apply the patch to the rom directly if you are having lag problems.

I love learning about new games out of nowhere, especially translated ones. The postgame sounds intriguing, so that's a bummer but totally understandable that it remains untranslated. Maybe this will help bring further attention and interest on that front to the game.

What's up, guys!

If you can't get the translation working while playing the ROM on Azahar, just follow these steps:

Azahar → File → Open Azahar Folder

Open the sdmc folder. Inside it, you should only see the Nintendo 3DS folder.

In the same directory as the Nintendo 3DS folder, create a new folder called luma, so it looks like this:
luma
Nintendo 3DS

Inside the luma folder, create another folder called titles.

Then, copy the 000400000008C600 folder generated by the patch into the titles folder.

After that, follow the tutorial:

Azahar → Right-click the game → Open → Mod Location

Copy the following files from the 000400000008C600 folder into the Mod Location folder:

  • romfs folder
  • code.bin
  • exheader.bin
This should work on the Citra emulator as well — the process is the same.

That's it! The translation should now work correctly.

Hey, I'm trying to inject this mod into the .CIA itself, but I'm clueless on where the files are supposed to go. It's logical that the "patch.cpk" goes into the ExtractedRomFS, as that's the "romfs" folder normally. The "code.bin" is supposed to replace the already existing one in ExtractedExeFS, I presume? But that "exheader.bin"... I have no clue where it must be located for it to work. Do you know this?

There is no reason to incorporate the patch into the cia itself. Also, the code.bin is patched to read the patch.cpk from a specific luma folder on the SD card, so even if you could get it all incorporated you couldn't just put the patch.cpk as is into the romfs of the cia.

We will not provide support to achieve this as we see no legitimate use for this at all. Use the patching options of your 3DS or emulator of your choice (getting the patch to run on emulators is already explained in this thread, page 1, or right above your post)
