Airing last night with very little in the way of warning, a brand new Nintendo Direct was aired. Running for 15 minutes in total, it took a moment to celebrate the success of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie before swiftly announcing a brand new Star Fox game for the Switch 2. In the presentation we got a glimpse of the new game's art style, which appears to be quite a leap from the previous Wii U release, along with a breakdown of characters, the Arwing controls, the campaign, and a whole bunch more.

You can check out the full Nintendo Direct in the video above. The game is available to pre-order now, with it set to cost £41.99 digitally and launch on the 25th of June. Physical pre-orders are not yet live, though the revealed box art does at least seem to confirm that it will not be a Game Key Card release.

refresh my memory, were they mandatory or optional in zero? it's been a long time
Yeah because you had the dual screen action of TV screen then cockpit on Gamepad IIRC. You had to move with motion controlls with gamepad screen and TV was sticks. It's been a while though, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

How is it easier? I guess it's due to the nostalgia you have for it because for me it's Star Fox than Lylat Wars or Starwing.
Nostalgia? I played these games less than ten years ago lmao
I explained why it's easier to write Starwing instead of Star Fox (1993): Nintendo called the new game like the old game. To differentiate them, you have to specify which; like Star Fox (1993) or Star Fox (2026). Writing Starwing instead of Star Fox (1993) or Star Fox '93 is simply shorter and only requires letters.

i don't mind the visuals, this will be starfox in 2013, but fox proportions are kinda weird because of the realism, anyway, the real issue is the game being another 64 remake, just make something new please, you don't need a ton of innovation, wanna make a cash grab for a new audience? just make some new levels and stuff, not another remake

So I'm not sure if this is a one-time thing or if it's gonna be the case for all Switch 2 games moving forward, but Amazon US is selling physical copies for the digital price right now ($50).
Walmart is doing that too, though I think they started it. They also have the Yoshi game physically priced-matched with the digital.

Again, and yeah I should care, and I should call them out for that. But I was like wow I like the look of it all. I get the models can be controversial but hey, it would have been either way they went. I gladly will take this. But I do hope this leads to MORE.
Be it DLC, Be it a full on new Star Fox title.

I get them giving it one more fair shot after Zero, which was in Wii U purgatory which simply didnt help it one bit.
If this is it, and we get a fifth rendition .. being a remake again. Then im done being onboard for Star Fox while I love the franchise.
