Feel free to use on switch 2, on your own risk of course.

being connected to the internet using cartridge dumps you yourself didn't create, missing its unique certificate will let you update your games and or dlc you buy.

your switch 2 however will be banned shortly after.

mig switch with exclusively your own cartridge dumps? should be safe unless proven otherwise

The question I've always asked myself is the following: if I have my own cartridge and extract the unique certificate and implant it in a different backup of mine, would that trigger a ban? What experiences are there regarding this?

Why would you do that. Why not dump the cartridge you own

Because they want to pirate and think that using a donor cert from one of their games will hide the fact they they pirated

There’s a chunk of Facebook and Reddit users still spreading the information around that, that will keep you safe from ban. I got tired of correcting folk lol

It should be noted that I don’t have a migSwitch and haven’t played for at least a decade; it was just to understand whether bigN can link the certificate to a specific title or not.

Yes, you would get banned for that.

as stated by me in a previous post in this thread, they didn't use to check for that. they check pretty much all related parts of the process since 2023 / 17.0.0

You will get banned, certificate is for each cart.

As long as you're using private (or semi-private) full dumps on your cart and your MIG Switch card firmware is the latest one, I believe that you should be fine to update games the official way. Using MIG Switch for anything else other than what is advertised for almost guarantees getting your console banned, with a few exceptions here and there. Ban might not happen immediately. Staying offline only prolongs the inevitable as it's not possible to clear the logs that Nintendo checks for any suspicious activity on your console.

What if you factory reset and the switch 2 was never connected to the internet?

My setup is currently:

Factory reset switch 2 -> never connect to internet -> play with mig

What i want to try:

Factory reset switch 2 -> connect to the internet -> update to latest firmware -> factory reset -> never connect to internet -> play with mig

factory resetting doe not do a single thing besides waste your time. Logs are not erased

You can download Switch 1 and 2 firmware updates even if your console is banned. Factory reset doesn't clear logs, only clears USER partition or something. In other words, as soon as you put your MIG Switch cart with pirated games on it, it will be logged and once you connect to the Nintendo servers, the logs will be sent to them and you'll eventually get banned.

Blocking Nintendo servers just delays the inevitable and by blocking Nintendo servers you lose the ability to connect to the eShop in order to update games. If only one could update games on a banned console, getting your console banned wouldn't be a problem at all.

However, you can update games on a banned stock console but it requires having an updated game on another Switch 1 or Switch 2 console which you can use to match the game version with locally.

I have a brand new Mig reader and a Cart used like 1 or 2 times, wondering if I should think about selling it on but no idea how much to ask for both items...... any idea anyone?

Not much you won’t get MSRP and since it doest work with switch 2 and cause of the ban chance no one wants em

I ended up just donating mine to another dev
