I recently upgraded to a 4K TV for my Wii, and honestly, Sega Genesis games on the GenPlusGX emulator look like shit graphics-wise. I get it, games that are over 30 years old aren’t going to look good in 2024, but SNES (SNES9xGX) games look way better, even NES (FCEUGX) games look OK. Both of those emulators feature video rendering options, like "sharp," that significantly improve the visuals. GenPlusGX, however, doesn’t seem to offer anything similar.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to add rendering options—something like the "sharp" filter—to GenPlusGX? I mean, @SaulFabre managed to modify the original emulator to display cover art and @Hyllian came up with new video filters for Snes9xGx.

So I’m hoping a tweak like this could be doable too.

How is your Wii connected to your 4k tv? Are you using an upscaler, Wii to hdmi converter, component? Genesis Plus GX displays games nicely on my 4k Samsung with a Wii to hdmi converter.

Dude, if I had a Wii to HDMI converter, I wouldn't have posted that. :)

I am using a standard Wii composite cable. I know that I won't get much out if this setup but I expect some improvements, at least something similiar to what I get with snes9xgx.

i recommend the mayflash wii to hdmi adapter, it's the most widely recommended, outside the electron shepard one.

until you can find some good cables connection like wii2hdmi, maybe you can use "genplus libretro" edition (it is standalone retroarch build with genplus core), and use advanced video features from retroarch. but expect no miracles. its a composite cables on a 4k tv, if you got sh!t image it's because the composite cables is working just fine.

OR you can just install some megadrive emulator on your smartTV, i know for sure you can use even the bluetooth wiimote to play in glorious 4k.

I think genplusGX is excelent when using crt tv, but hdtv, not so much.

Its not about getting a new cable, its about messing around with the settings to improve things a little bit or adding a new feature to the emulator

https://github.com/timawesomeness/PairWiimote

its old software. if does not work, try searching google: "connect wiimote to android"

maybe you can try direct connect, open bluetooth in your tv and keep pressing sync button on wiimote (or 1+2 buttons)
