Valve celebrates 20th anniversary of 'Half-Life 2' with giveaway and new documentary

It's been 20 years since Valve released its iconic game Half-Life 2. To celebrate this anniversary, the company has aired a 2 hour-long documentary, featuring details about it's development and the future of the series.

"The ending of Half-Life: Alyx is somewhat a self-critical realization," said Gabe Newell. "I think that Half-Life represents a tool we have and promises made to customers to capitalize on innovation and opportunities to build game experiences that haven't been involved previously. And I think there are no shortage of those opportunities facing us as an industry right now."

There is also some interesting information about the never released Episode 3. “We could have shipped it. It wouldn’t have been that hard,” Gabe Newell said, regarding the cryptic episode. “My personal failure was being stumped. I couldn’t figure out why Episode 3 was pushing anything forward.”

Maybe the company is awaiting for some new technological leap to make a new Half-Life game or even ship the Episode 3. In the meantime, you can claim Half-Life 2 on Steam to keep as Valve is giving the game away for a limited time.

Still haven't finished HL2 because I don't play it everyday, but I'm definitely going to watch this when I'm done because it looks so interesting

Epic Unreal Anniversary: deletes from online stores
It's crazy to see that Quake can receive great remasters while Unreal gets the absolute opposite—literally the definition of opposite. It would have been pretty bad if they hadn't cared at all, but they did just enough to pull them out and then did nothing else. It really feels like Sweeney hates UT for some reason.
