OK guys, so I've never played a "Kirby" game, nor a "Pokemon" game...

Can someone please let me know which of these above-mentioned games is best to start out ON A PS VITA (emulation, of course...)

Looks like I'm up for a little bit of a goofy time, so I'd appreciate any recommendations you cats can offer.

Well, for starters, emulating anything past the DS is a no-go, so the best Pokemon title you can access on a Vita is probably Black&White from 2011, as it was the last game before Game Freak jumped ship to the 8th gen handhelds with Pokemon X&Y. The spinoff titles on home consoles like Pokken and Rumble are off the table. Stadium for the N64, maybe.

If you're getting into the series for the first time, it's important to know that Black and White are basically the exact same game--every Pokemon title gets two versions with different monsters available on each version and you're supposed to pick your favorites and trade with other players.

Moving onto Kirby, that series has been neglected quite a bit after the 7th generation of game consoles. So theres not a whole lot you'll miss out on, if you don't count the newer home console games. Kirby was really at it's prime in the 3rd and 4th gen so you should start with Kirby's Adventure, then work your way up to Super Star Ultra for the DS (remastered version of Super Star for the SNES) and Squeak Squad / The Amazing Mirror for the GBA.

Kirby Mass Attack is a good spinoff title with lots of bonus content and was pretty ambitious for the DS, it should fit nicely on Vita since it's primarily played with the touch screen.

Ds emulators are slow so you'll be able to fully experience up to gba. For pokemon games there are:
Gameboy- Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue
Gameboy Color: Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Trading Card game
Game boy advance- Pokemon Ruby, Pokemon Sapphire, Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon FireRed(Remake of pokemon red but with gba style) Leaf Green(remake of pokemon blue)
There's also a Pokemon game called Pokemon Red adventure team(you are the pokemon) and pokemon pinball (based on ruby, emerald and sapphire)

Kirby....I didn't fully play any one of them, tried a gba one once and it was fun

For Pokemon play them in this order
Pokemon Crystal
Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green
Pokemon Emerald

And for KIrby try Kirby Squeak Squad

I second Kirby's Adventure: Nightmare in Dreamland on the NES. It's the second game after the GameBoy original, but I hold it in high regard. If you want something shorter, there's always the original on GB, but there are no powers in that game. If you want a game slightly harder, Kirby's Dream Land 2 is a great follow up to the NES game.

I'm less versed in Pokemon. I've never even finished the first game. I'd still recommend starting there (Red, Blue, or Yellow) before the number of Pokemon balloons. Sorry I can't be more help than that.

Anything from Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy up to the DS games is a good choice. Perhaps The Crystal Shards might be a little more difficult to emulate, though.

play pokemon crystal, emerald and fire red. If you like those move on to older/newer ones
for kirby, play dreamland 2 for GBC, then the GBA games, then the SNES games, then N64 and DS

One is for capture in photos, the other is a panel de pon themed and the latters are more traditional Pokémon trainer team vs games
