If Donald loses, who will Republicans run in 2028?

Donald's numbers are hurting, the trend is not good for him. It's still anyone's election, but he's currently playing catchup in poll numbers.

Some attribute this to Donald's lack of enthusiasm, his inability to hold debates, his criminal convictions, his failed businesses and his talking points being debunked all the time, but I suspect there's also a good bit of fatigue among his fans.

The republicans are fractured. Many still want to vote for Haley, even though she's no longer on the ticket, and a few even go as far as trying to assassinate him for being too far right.

I think currently the party has no real contenders. Vance is widely unpopular, Pence is openly hated and Desantis currently faces flak for refusing FEMA aid mere weeks before two tropical storms hit Florida for which his refused help is needed.

I also think that a woman (Haley) won't have a chance to get nominated in a party whose largest voter base is openly hostile to women's rights.

If Trump loses, Vance will be dead in the water

Desantis will still be a popular choice. Rubio, Cruz and Christie will try but ultimately fail to cinch nomination

Haley would probably try again, would be interesting if both major candidates for president were women

The Republican party will be in shambles, which is exactly what it deserves for going all-in on a megalomaniac who doesn't care about anything but himself. They won't be able to get their shit together by 2028, the infighting will go on for years. So they'd probably settle on a trainwreck candidate like Greene or Gaetz.

Doesn't matter, Harris won't lose in a post-Trump 2028 America. Plus Ruper Murdoch will probably be dead by then. The Republican Party as you know it is in its final days...

The next candidate will be whoever Trump chooses, which would be anyone's guess.

It could be someone nobody's heard about, but is loyal to Trump. Someone from the Heritage foundation, or someone that is recommended by Bannon?

Desantis isn't popular anywhere outside of Florida. There's a reason he flamed out immediately when he tried to run for POTUS. He has zero charisma and no capacity to stand against real Republican challengers. He'll also get torn to shreds by the party for his advocacy of "socialist government handouts" in the form of hurricane disaster relief. He very quickly drops the MAGA mask when the hurricanes hit and he has to actually govern. He and Floridians don't share the hatred for FEMA that northern MAGAs have. That will be heavily used against him in any broader GOP race he tries to run. Desantis isn't even unbeatable in his own state, he almost lost to a mediocre and corrupt Democrat several years ago. He keeps power in Florida partly because the Democrats there are weak and incompetent, but largely because he (along with all politicians who hope to get anywhere in the state) knows he has to behave (like a socialist) when the hurricanes hit. This helps him in Florida, but hurts him everywhere else.

Haley won't get anywhere, she was the second place behind Trump and still got utterly embarrassed by him. I suspect she may eventually become a Liz Cheney 2.0 and be scapegoated for the party's failures and ousted from the GOP entirely by Trumpers.

Trumpism isn't going anywhere. His supporters control the RNC and MAGA comprises of close to half of the party's voter base. If anything, MAGA is growing within the GOP base. And they have demonstrated that they're not willing to go back to a "boring" GOP leader from the Nixon/Reagan dynasty. There is a very serious concern from the party that these voters will remain at home if their demands in a candidate aren't met. The GOP for decades always enjoyed a loyal voter base who would show up every four years, but that has changed. They'll likely have to continue doubling and tripling down on increasingly insane candidates to satisfy that significant portion of the base. Otherwise the GOP won't have the votes and will die.

Rupert Murdoch's legacy will live on with some of his more evil children, particularly Lachlan Murdoch who has largely been running the company for years now. He's descripted as even more extreme than his father and has been credited as moving Fox News further to the right. Daddy Rupert's death means nothing. Meanwhile, younger generations will be (and already are) radicalized by new forms of right wing media on the internet. Courtesy of crazies like Elon Musk.

The GOP will need to find themselves a new Trump replacement. If he's still alive and legally allowed to run (and he unfortunately probably will be), I could easily see Trump running yet again in four years. And the GOP will likely have no choice but to let him, because not allowing him to run would sink the party entirely.

Didn't you see the Succession finale? Elisabeth scuttles the plan for Lachlan to take over at the last minute, the company is broken up for the cash they all desperately want while they are still young enough to enjoy it. A grantor and a single beneficiary altering an irrevocable trust is an unusual move, compared to all six beneficiaries altering it.

Maybe someone who isn't a convicted felon, rapist, pedophile etc.

But that was the best they could muster up this time so who know maybe they'll they'll run a KKK grand wizard or whatever they're called in 2028.
