"The Keeper's Diary: A Biohazard Story" fanfilm debuts today

Today, June 30th, 2024, marks the release of the fanfilm by the people behind the Residence of Evil, titled "The Keeper's Diary: A Biohazard Story".

After quite some time in development, the film has finally been released for free, representing an adaptation of the iconic diary present in both the original Resident Evil (1996) and it's Remake from 2002.

The diary itself was written by a researcher living inside the Spencer Mansion, during the deadly outbreak that occurred in the events of the original Resident Evil, and eventually, the researcher succumbs to the outbreak, with it's last words being the iconic "itchy. tasty.", left behind by the last moments of cognitive response from the researcher before his demise at the hands of the T-Virus.

The fanfilm is available for free over at the Residence of Evil YouTube channel, with around 20 mins of runtime.

I funded this a bit and am rather happy with how it turned out. Now to wait and see how many replies it takes on this thread for someone who hasn't watched it to shit on it.

Gotta say the CGI for the Hunter looked quite great, and the make up work for the fully turned zombies was spectacular, really detailed.

They did an outstanding job with all the special effects hands down.

I haven't seen it yet, and it's garbage. Resident Evil 1 is awful, but RE6 is a masterpiece alongside Sonic '06 and E.T. (Atari 2600).

In all seriousness, I look forward to sampling the full release. It's nice to see passion projects from fans that unite the community (and get completed), and it's good of Capcom to endorse it.

Disclaimer: I've only ever played about an hour's worth of RE6.

First of all, I really appreciate all the effort they put on this short film. Is not like so many fans out there are willing to do this kind of high-level productions.

Now, two things. I don't know why, it's just my opinion but I felt that it lacked "something". Can't quite put my finger on it, but "something"...

Second, my mind can't fathom in any way, thinking that that is not Chris  I mean, as a child I played this game so many damn times in the original PS1 release, that this guy, in my brain, is THE original Chris Redfield. I felt so confused trying to put that thought away :P

And lastly, the Hunter and the make up are very nice, an incredible level of detail.

All in all, it's great see some good Resident Evil material. It will never be enough.

Ok so I guess they want everyone to praise it, sure the hunter sorta looked cool, but kinda looked funny as if it was a happy smiling hunter rather than something sinister, im going to shred you apart scary.

Jill...... looked cheesier than the original ps1 intro, no effort at all in putting the R.P.D S.T.A.R.S uniform together, plus the beret hadn't even been shaped properly, which is a MUST if you had to wear one as part of your uniform. And as S.T.A.R.S are supposed to be highly trained, as in the army, your uniform is especially something you must have pride in and have it ship shape.

The actors playing poker with the unnecessary smoking where everyone has a smoke, yet look like a bunch of 12 year olds that are smoking for the first time.

The set itself where Jill is on, doesn't even give off the spooky horror atmosphere that you'd expect following the outbreak, its lighting looked as if she was walking around nice friendly well lit rooms.

I guess for a fan project its pretty much just that, taking away the hype fans have for the games, its not exactly anything great to really talk about.

Sure it has pretty decent CGI, it kinda looks meh, seen some far better quality fan made films that would come close to the quality you'd expect if it were an actual movie..... take the fan made Uncharted film, which in all honesty did a better job at trying to be faithful to the actual game.

Its casting, Sony should have paid attention to, rather than picking an actor just because he was currently popular due to the Spider-Man and Avengers movies.

As for Marky Mark...... as Sully...... facepalm

I just hope the RE YouTube followers/fans don't get offended for watching this Keepers Dairy and think nothing really of it, while its trying to look like its something great with its CGI, it just screams cheesy at you, like a Uwe Boll film.
