All these contributions to the WiiU scene are almost getting out of hand
We can keep dreaming I guess... but so many great things have been developed for the Wii U that I never even dreamed of to begin with. I hope it continues even as the console keeps ageing! If only Nintendo cared as much about the Wii U as we all do.Thing is, something like it should have already been feasible where one player has a gamepad and one has the TV, yet nothing has ever surfaced in this regard. There are Game Boy (Color) cores in retroarch that can emulate 2 GBCs at once on the Wii U (plus a really old Wii homebrew called gb4gb could emulate up to 4 Game Boys on the Wii at once). Feasibly it all should be possible with separate displays on the Wii U at least through the GBC, but no one that would know how to make such a thing has really surfaced and shown an interest as far as I know. Maybe someday though, one can always dream
Honestly I don't think that's really a possibility at all. I think the best hope we have for that kind of thing is hacking a DS or 3DS with GBARunner, having that wirelessly connect with Nintendont tricking it into thinking it's a proper GBA. I saw someone suggest that once, and realistically I think its the best chance we have of GBA to GameCube connectivity on the Wii U. I can't fathom it ever getting accomplished with a GamePad (or 2) despite how amazing that would be.Imagine the possibilities, for example if Nintendont was ported to Wii U mode the extra processing power and two gamepads could be used to emulate two GBAs for Four Swords Adventures and other games utilizing the GBA connectivity for multiplayer. Not that I think it's likely we will see Nintendont being ported, and adding GBA emulation onto it would not be trivial, but one can dream.
Nintendont in Wii mode has pretty harsh RAM limitations, Nintendont in Wii U mode would need to emulate graphics, because it uses a different GPU.Honestly I don't think that's really a possibility at all. To be fair, the Wii U deserved more love than it got, but at the same time, gamers deserved a more powerful system too. The graphical differences between the Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U are so incrimental it hurts.Gary is one of the few developers keeping the Wii U alive and relevant close to 10 years after the Wii U was released!
No. The gamepad uses a weird wireless setup and the 3DS doesn't have the hardware needed to act as a gamepad.Could the MultiDRC mode technically be used with 3DS Systems too? Would be cool to use for Multiplayer and I think it's much more feasible to set up, than getting more Gamepads.
I see. Could be interesting if someone were to work on that. Like giving all Players the shared TV Screen on the Top Screen, while the Bottom Screen is Asynchronous. Using Four Swords Adventure as proof of Concept would be awesome. Setting up that game was always a pain...No. The gamepad uses a weird wireless setup and the 3DS doesn't have the hardware needed to act as a gamepad.
It is of course possible to use a 3DS as a screen and controller, with the appropriate homebrew. It just would have to be written to work over normal wifi rather than the DRC protocol.
Yes. Retroarch for Wii U has multi-gamepad support (shows as gamepad #2 when properly connected/paired as multiDRC, nothing displays on screen but it works as another controller perfectly, plus, sound already works from speakers).ik I'm late to this party (lol) but are there any other games that support multiple gamepads?
