Seablip is a retro-inspired, open world pirate RPG from solo developer Jardar Solli. The game is now available in Early Access and for the occasion, a new trailer was aired:

Drawing inspiration from titles such as Faster Than Light and Sid Meier’s Pirates!, Seablip offers the freedom to explore, build and even fish as you sail the high seas and defeat enemies! Upgrade your ship with extra cannons and inventory space, hire a new crew to aid you in your adventures and gather resources from a range of sources - chopping trees, mining minerals and watering crops as you make use of the tools at your disposal. Engage in a plethora of minigames and activities as you progress, building bases and making use of your trusty fishing rod. Find gold from treasure or earn it by selling your wares, or even take bounties found around the world and enhance your pirate reputation as you get paid.

Seablip is now available in Early Access on Steam for PC and Mac for $14.99 / £12.79 / €14.79. A full launch is expected for 2025.

Looks a bit barebones, but seems to have a decent base to improve upon. Still seems a bit lackluster compared to Pirates, Uncharted Waters (and I doubt it'll have enough of a story to compare it with Skies of Arcadia).

I'M GOING TO BE KING OF THE SEABLIP!

I saw this game recommended a few times in a thread about Stardew Valley. I don't see many similarities aside from the obvious that they're both pixel games, but this trailer makes it obvious that the game has good bones (skull and crossbones) so hopefully it'll all be fleshed out soon enough.

Skies of Arcadia really could use a "HD" port for modern consoles or just a port if it is for Switch.

Played this a bit. It's very similar to FTL, just pirate themed. Your pawns have stations in ship to ship combat, you direct them with the mouse. The basic metagame is choosing between crew damage and ship damage.

In addition to the core ship combat gameplay, the game has half hearted harvest moon features, as solo developers are wont to add. Visiting an island is very limited in gameplay terms: side scrolling, nearly one button. Essentially a Zelda 2 experience.

FTL is great because it's well honed and balanced. The core mechanics are fine, but a little gameplay wobbliness and FTL would be a much, much worse and frustrating game.

Seablip is just an alpha, it has gameplay wobbliness.

To work without a mouse (like on Switch) it would require significant overhaul. Like FTL, it's probably only really suitable for mouse or touchscreen. And this is a solo developer, so I doubt there will be a Switch version anytime soon.
