Hello Communauty!

I would like to know if there a way to make work on the WIIU a "game mat carpet" like on the WII

It is for WINX club for the WII, it usually fits in the Gamecube port, but there is no Gamecube hole for the WIIU

Here is a LINK to show what the mat is:

https://www.google.com/search?q=dan...=1920&client=firefox-b-d#imgrc=6Lp_EGvtHljjHM

Is there an adaptator, or a way to make it work on wiiU for my 6 Years old little girl tomorrow?
(I have a wii too, but is doesn't go anymore on my hdmi tv)
Thanks!

You can use it in GC games (like DDR Mario Mix) with a GC adapter. But it won't work on Wii games, they don't recognize the GC adapter. If the game supports Classic Controller, maybe you can make it work with a GC to Classic Controller adapter.

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that the GCN USB adapter doesn’t recognize the dance pad (I know it doesn’t recognize the bongos and GBA link). You’ll have to use your original wii with the built in ports on top

I admire your attempts at trying to get a dance pad to be recognized by the Wii U.

But you need a GC to Classic Controller adapter and even then you would kinda be better off getting a mini PC and running StepMania instead with a GC to USB adapter.

And that's from experience as i used to use a Slim PS2 with a USB drive to play DDR with my foam pads and then changed my setup to use StepMania and a Xbox to USB adapter instead. Also StepMania lets you have way more songs than you would ever wish for.

The only correct part is that the GBA link doesn't work on the Wii U through such an adapter. The bongos actually do work (was playing Donkey Konga 2 the other day with my buddy on my Wii U in fact), and the dance mats will work as well through the same port.

Wait, actually? If that's the case then damn. There was a used set of bongos in good condition for dirt cheap at my local used game store and I asked somebody here if they worked and they said they didn't. Somebody else ended up buying them. I can't believe I missed out :hateit:

Yup, I have 2 bongo controllers, both work in my Wii U through the adapter for 2 player play even.

When you think about it, at the end of the day with the bongo and dance mat controllers, are just standard gaming controllers with way different ways to hit the inputs, it does make sense then that if a Gamecube controller can function for the likes of Nintendont on the Wii U through the adapter, that those peripherals through the same port should function as well, and indeed they do.

The GBA link cable is a different story though, it's not just inputs being relayed from the controller to the system, the system is in turn sending signals to the GBA as well to output video and/or download content, so naturally one can see why that might be the kind of connection through such a port that wont properly function if the internals of the device it's connected to are lacking the components needed to make that happen. And since the Wii U was never officially meant to actually play GameCube games, it's easy to see why those components are simply not in the Wii U, and since the GameCube controller adapter was only ever officially meant for Sm4sh Bros, its easy to see why those components weren't built into the adapter either. (Does make you wonder if a version of the adapter could be produced with the components necessary to properly communicate with a GBA on a Wii U though).

Less "output video" (the bandwidth is forbiddingly low for that) and more "load a multiboot program into the GBA's RAM so it can act as a slave (or sometimes client) device". The GBA actually can act as a GameCube controller, however, and it will work with the GCN to USB adapter if it's acting that way. The adapter was only made to accept GameCube controllers and adapt them into USB HID devices, so it doesn't understand the GBA's standard link protocol.

I don't understand, shouldn't I need a GC to wiimote Adapter like this:

https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/gc_to_wiimote/index.php
??

Where would you buy a cheap one? Are they other games that works with the mat?

What do you mean by this, that an adapter doesn't work?

TheDerpyDolphin

GCN USB adapter doesn’t recognize the dance pad
An usb adapter exists? What are we talking about (a link please?), so does someone knows if it work...Or not?

What the relation of the bongo controller with the mat?? Is it worth it buying one? How many games are used with it?

N7COPPER
What is the possible use of this....? Can it be use in homebrew or games?

Somewhere, I don't understand....The Game WINX, is supposed to be a wii Game, but has a mat/carpet that is compatible "gamecube".....Strange.
Question: would this adapter work to make work the winx mat carpet:
https://www.leboncoin.fr/consoles_jeux_video/2257572571.htm
The problem is that vWii games aren't made to recognize the GameCube controller adapter, so even though we got Nintendont and Sm4sh to play nicely with GameCube controllers on the Wii U, Wii games are a different story even if they could originally play on the Wii with GameCube controllers no problem. There has been someone that managed to get Brawl and Project M to work with the adapter, but my understanding is they're the only Wii game at this time with the capability, and to so for other games would have to be coded specifically for each game.

In the case of the GBA-GC link cable, I believe it just passes the serial through to the GC console, effectively the GBA is just treating the GC like another GBA as if it were any ordinary GBA link cable.
Of course the GC adapter doesn't understand that because the protocol is completely different since it's not even acting like a GC device.
An adapter could certainly be made that would allow it, it is a simple serial protocol and such things exist for PC (such as the Xboo cable, but it's not USB, can probably be used with USB to RS232 serial adapters), in theory the same cables could work with the Wii.
Getting it to work reliably might be tricky, GBA link emulation has always been difficult and GBA-GC link emulation even more so.

Do you mean that even if I buy the adapter, having the wii original dvd and mat, my daughter won't be able to play her game....That's sad ;-(

Well feasibly it should be possible for someone to edit the game's code in question to install as a Wii VC title to the Wii U menu and function with the adapter like whoever got Brawl to work with it on the Wii U did. But because that's such a specific request that as far as i know only one person has ever coded for any Wii game on the Wii U, and considering they never did it for any other games, I wouldn't hold your breath on them helping out with the specific game.

Here is what the GCN to USB adapter looks like (just a random one from Amazon that Google led me to. There are plenty more options). It will not work with any Wii games unless they are modded like MikaDubbz said (btw it also works with Mario Kart Wii using similar methods as Smash Bros Brawl, but that’s beyond the point). As stated before, if nobody has made a cheat code to allow the game to work with it it’s going to be useless in this situation, and I apologize for misreading the OP and bringing it up.

Anyways to improve the CIOS in relation with that, so that all the wii peripherals work on the vwii by default??
This should be on the "wish list" of improvements

@MikaDubbz: Is the game in question a secret? you don't say it....

TheDerpyDolphin thanks, gosh, why is this adapter sooo expensive, Found this one, that seems better

Minimum is 26$.....Should be far less
