That being said, I think it would be best if everyone stopped talking about this, and removed any reference to it. The person who made the commit obviously tried to keep it under wraps, and as obscure as the changes are, if no one pointed out what it does Nintendo might not figure it out.

I would imagine that since they were in a relationship, the answer to that hypothetical would be no. If Keiko were to be "weirded out" about her first name being immortalized in one of the greatest video games of all time, then Yasuhiko was wasting his time with her.

Meh design, meh console, meh game. Decent price. But I really think Mario Maker the way it is on 3DS shouldn't exist.

Same. Well, the NSMBU port is being released soonish, so maybe after that. Or they might be intending to make a new Mario Maker and release it after the new NSMB game that they no doubt have in the works.

Because it's only for a little while every year and because it's almost exclusively a US thing, most other countries don't even bother whatsoever actually, so having a release only for one region could be a waste of resources should it not sell well. However, a spooky game with some themes and a system (instead of themed hardware) could work and is indeed a lost opportunity.

For example, a 3DS with 3-4 spooky themes and Luigi's Mansion or something would be a good idea, doubt it will come from the manufacturers though, most likely it will be vendor-exclusive...
