I wonder if that language hack from the previous one will work on this?

Knowing how these are really just recompiled GC games... I'm pretty sure a language hack will be done in no time.

Erm... Is the name alright? I remember Prime 2: Echoes, and not DARK Echoes... I own a legit USA GC copy, so I don't know about japanese, but is this right?

Like Prime 1, doesn't work with USB Loader GX.

Prime 1 works via usb, its the only way I play.

Simply make a save file with the DVD version on your wii in slot 1.

GO back to your PC.

OPEN the ISO in Wii Scrubber

EXTRACT all 3 dol files in the root of the data partition

2 of the files have the same size, delete them.

RENAME the remaining dol file as main.dol

IN Wiiscrubber, right click on main.dol in the data partition.

SELECT Replace

CHOOSE the file you named main.dol

EXIT

PUT ISO on USB drive.

The game has been on usenet for 2 days... heres a file name tmd-mp2

As for translation patching... the same trick that works for the first game, swapping the ENGL and JAPN strings in the dol files doesnt work.

The menu works great.

Death match works great.

Story mode shows a loading screen, then a black half crash... like the language files are not there. The black screen responds to a home button press and the wiimote does not disconnect.

Just in case my disc was bad, I did the same procedure as above to play the game via usb... I can see the activity light stop after a little while so I know its not doing anything else.

For the record, I spent literally 3 min on this, have not investigated why this may be happening, nor have I even tried to play an unaltered backup.

Hope the information is useful to whomever

.

If by chance the unaltered copy does NOT work in story, I will post here saying I had a bad dump, in which case, the original procedure should work without a hitch.

P.S. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=160913 ... It's a secret to everyone....

Edit: Usenet correction

Edit: Trans-a-ma-lation

My best guess is it wont be an issue in the metroid collection. It freezes because there is a missing file (we can just rename one...)... the intent is not to make the game finishable on my end... my intent was a preview of how the game will control since the controls in this, particularly walking, are slightly different to how prime 3 worked. To me it seems like prime 1 and prime 2 control the same, but they are different than 3 slightly.

If your intent is to make the trilogy compatable with usb loaders... your going to find it difficult... when ios gets reloaded, the drive is shutdown (at least thats my best guess for the problem... haven't really looked)... The only viable workaround without needing tons of patches I can see is 2 versions of IOS for the game... its really inefficient... init usb in one version of ios, do not shutdown the device... and have it load a different version of ios that assumes usb is already init.

Otherwise, your looking at many games that use this method of launching that need major patching...
