Would like to understand a bit about what these keys are. After backing up the keys, I have these files in /switch:
Code:
dev.keys
prod.keys
These keys are very important as they're used to decrypt the titles on your Switch.

Understood, thank you!

So if I don't plan to use the Switch online at all and I'm not worried about being banned, is there any additional benefit to running CFW on EmuNAND? Or should I just install it on SysNAND?

If you install brickware (rare, but it has happened) or try an experiment that goes south, it only takes out your Emunand. Your stock Sysnand remains pristine. That’s why I do it. Plus if you change your mind in the future about wanting to go online or want to sell an unbanned switch you’re all set.

Nintendo can easily ban your system if you install pirated games, homebrew apps, or do any form of modifications to your system. An EmuNAND is recommended for this purpose as you're not leaving any traces behind on your real NAND, but whatever you do, don't go online as that will result in a permanent console ban.

Thank you! I went the EmuNAND route, just for safety.

Now that I have Atmosphere running with EmuNAND, what other tools should I look into? I have most of my games backed up on my PC. Is there a tool that will make it easy to install .xci/.nsp files from a network drive?

I highly recommend using TinWoo Installer. Its what I personally use and I never have any issues while using it.

Tap my signature block and away you go…

There’s an Installer section on the second page with the recent crop of working installers.

Agreed.

Tinwoo is great if you have a stash of backups on your PC. It just works.

How was your SD card formatted? Was it exFAT?

  1. Consoles aren't determined hackable by the firmware; its determined by the hardware. Consoles manufactured before June 2018 are unpatched and therefore hackable via the present exploit which is Fusee Gelee
  2. The only CFW being supported nowadays is Atmosphere
  3. You can use both .XCI and .NSP files with Atmosphere but they have to be installed
Yes my card is exfat, large games like Mario kart will install but are not playable off the sd but if Install to the system memory the games play fine

I also recommend tinwoo like @binkinator and @Draxzelex said. I'll just add that DBI is amazing too. I use both. DBI shines on how fast and simple it is. You just drag and drop.

Didn't want to start a new thead for this, since people will likely be able to answer it without me clogging up the forum. I'm just wondering what people's experiences with YUZU Emulator are? I'm well versed in Emulation but never taken a look into the switch until now.

I daily drive an ASUS Strix ROG, i7-8750h (6Core 12Thread , max boost 4.1GHz), GTX1060 6GB, and 32GB or DDR4 RAM. Would I be capable of running YUZU with ease or would it be straining?

I've got a switch with Homebrew/ Backups installed, but the reason I want to emulate is because some of the games have updates installed, but I prefer playing on the Base game usually as the YouTube channel I've got focuses on glitches in games, where the base game usually contains the most ahaha. If I can emulate games I want to cover, I won't have to mess around working out how to uninstall updates and keep games working as they always seem to announce 'game requires and update' when you just uninstall the update NSP...

If there's an easier way to remove updates from the switch and keep games working (even if I have to delete the saves for them) I'd b grateful to know it! Maybe it's a case of uninstalling tickets for the game and update too?

Thanks for any advice!

Since your card was formatted as exFAT, its been corrupted which is none of your games work if installed to the SD card. The only fix is to format your SD card. Next time, use FAT32 to prevent your SD card from being corrupted.

For yuzu your setup is great, but the emulation is not cicle accurate, so if you intend to cover glitches, it may not be the best path.

If your switch is able to run custom firmware, you have the option of creating a new emunand just for your channel, so it will behave like a new switch.

Hi. This is a noob question I might have asked before but I just want to make sure.. since I haven't been using sysmmc again until now, soon.

If my emummc's firmware is lower than the latest firmware I install on the sysmmc, is there any issue that can happen?
Or can I just have any version difference and it doesn't matter?

Many people leave their Sysnand alone and only update their Emunand. The converse is also OK. I keep my Sysnand on 11.0.0 and my Emunand on latest (15.0.0) with no issues. Emunand is literally a point in time copy of Sysnand so they behave as two completely different systems and can drift away from each other at their own pace.

Ahhhh this is an option I've never though of actually... If I wanted to use an EmuNAND, would I just need a new SD card? and use a separate one for my original NAND to keep them separate? Never looked into EmuNAND but finally have an interest!

You can have multiple partitions, so multiple NANDs in a single SD card, you can use the same one from your system nand, the card will have multiple partitions so there is no problem. I'm not 100% sure but I think every partition will take 32gb of space from your SD, so size may be a issue for smaller SDs.

If you need a guide for doing that always go with written guides, as those are updatable and videos are not. Some details that do matter change over the time.

Do you have latest Sigpatches from here?
Sigpatches (GBATemp) — alternative Sigpatches for when others don’t seem to work.

Try installing Othello.nsp with Tinwoo.

Installers

  • Tinwoo — A nice installer for when you just want to install.
  • Tinfoil — Polished installer. Recommend the Self installing version.
  • DBI — Capable feature filled and fast installer.
  • Goldleaf — The kitchen sink but it can also install games.

Are you installing latest tinfoil.nro self installer from tinfoil.io (see link above)

Just updated my Switch to:
  • hekate to v5.9.0,
  • Atmosphère 1.4.0
  • Switch Firmware 15 (installed using Daybreak)
Now I am facing the following problem. Launching a software from SD results in checking the content and that results in error code 2016-0610.

What can I do?
