Steam launch and Anniversary Update announced for ‘Kena: Bridge of Spirits’

Ember Lab’s debut title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, launched last year on PS4, PS5 and PC last year but as an Epic Games Store timed-exclusive on the latter platform. After nearly a year, the title will soon make its way to Steam along with an Anniversary Update which will also be available on platforms it previously launched. A new trailer was aired for the announcement today:

Kena: Bridge of Spirits offers players an action-adventure game that combines compelling narrative with exploration, puzzle-solving, and fast-paced combat. The game delivers a journey of self-discovery as Kena, a young Spirit Guide, restores balance to an ancient village in a once-thriving environment.

The “Anniversary Update” will include:
  • New Game+, which will allow players who’ve completed the game to restart Kena’s journey with all of their previously unlocked abilities, upgrades, outfits, Rot, etc and take on redesigned and more challenging combat encounters.
  • Charmstones that are Individually equipable - these unique collectibles each provide different adjustments to Kena’s stats and abilities.
  • New game mode called the Spirit Guide Trials, challenging players’ skills with a variety of replayable challenges across three different categories; Obstacle Courses, Wave Defenses, and Boss Reflects.
  • Completing the Spirit Guide Trials unlock outfits for Kena, each one inspired by one of the characters she meets along her journey. Succeeding at bonus objectives within each trial can unlock color variations of each outfit, as well as some unique Charmstones.
  • An exclusive new outfit for Deluxe Edition owners.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits will release on Steam on Tuesday, September 27th along with the Anniversary Update, free for all owners. Be sure to check out our full review ahead of the Steam release!

what? did you even readed? the game was already on pc... just wasnt on steam lol.
I think that's the joke.

That said, I played a few minutes of this game on my PS4 and didn't really feel it but that's probably just me. It is visually stunning though and looks very appeaking.

No sir, you are mistaken. This game is finally releasing on PC. I don't know what you mean by this "Epic Store".

seriously i hate this about people on this forum, if a console like switch,ps5,xbsx get an exclsuive game everyone complains that there shouldnt be exclsuives that is bad for everyone, but when a game comes out for pc if it doesnt come out on steam oh god no they make a fuss about it and say the worst things about any service that even tries to compete with steam, seriously pc gamers just like the monopoly steam has and yet they are the first to complaim if the game goes to pc on something that isnt steam.

You mean to say people complain when games are "exclusive" to ONE store? =o

It was one of my preferred 2021 game :)
I'm glad to see a free DLC, and will try it.

I'm still blocked at 99 Rot (100 max). I'm missing one in the village... I searched a lot ! But I refuse to look at a guide :P
I'm also missing some "light-blinking chests", but I wonder if they are not timed events only. Like I found 3 Xmass garlanded chests with santa hats in them... on holidays.
So, maybe I didn't play at the right time, and missed others ? (maybe easter ?)

So, I'm missing :
1 rot
3 or 4 costumes
maybe as much easter egg's hidden chest events ?

As noted by others it was just a joke mate but I do get what you mean. Business is business and exclusivity is born our of that. There's little to no way around it. But...
I like all my eggs in the same basket, thank you. ;)

a store isnt a platform any pc player can still play it but they still complain if its not on their store and many outright refuse to play the games and keep complaining until it comes to steam...

Having need for origin, thq, take2 etc etc apps is even worst. Perhaps Steam paid for the noise?

Yeah i know, it was just a funny quip ;) Though i have most my games on Steam and rather play on Steam. I'm kinda OK with Ubisoft Connect and GoG Galaxy. EA app is bad but Xbox/Epic take the cake as the worst launchers.

Remember reading around that it was... meh-ish, or something

but always looked meh indeed.
I don't know why you think it's meh, maybe too childish looking ? that's what I liked, I still have my child soul to appreciate nice looking things without the need to be 8k 120fps realistic war movie.
I actually found the game pretty good, good looking with CGI/Pixar feeling, well animated, good controls, well produced (no bugs, lags, etc.), and interesting to play with enough challenge (I don't play in easy! that's boring).
I don't see a lot of 3D adventure "first game" from a small new studio as good graphically, or maybe Stray ? or Ghost of a tale ?
edit: ok, maybe Thymesia (but they worked on previous game companies).

I guess it all depends what people likes and hope for games, if you expect a fornite, GTA VI or a Elden ring, no, that's not it.

On the why i think it's meh, 600% wrong, this guy is, lol. Graphics and style aren't everything in a game and definitely not the only things i judge. And let's not even regard the "if you expect a Fortnite..." bs argument that makes me want to just give a "laugh" reaction and move on... But this reply is good enough.

Nah, it ain't how the game looks, myself I prefer cartoony games to super-photo "realistic" or what.
Just was saying what I remember reading around, 'cus, to be honest, I kinda don't really care about this game at all.
I look at it and it doesn't... inspire me, I guess.
Doesn't seem bad, but also isn't really piquing my interest.

and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What about making kids wait till 18 or 21 to drive? And yea is messed up, you can join army and die for your country at age 18, but you can't drink alcohol or smoke a cig til 21, is ridiculous

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
If someone is in the military they should be allowed to smoke and drink at 18.... Would help drive recruitment lol

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We all know they do and will anyways. I think laws prevented them only pushes them to illegally do it. Even tho if was legal, most prob wouldn't even bother. Not a big deal or risque if its legal, no fun.

That's why some kids don't mind having a rap sheet or two just so they never get drafted

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also, i think the voting age should match the adult and drinking ages too, because by the logic of giving them time to mature and think rationally so they don't drive drunk, then they should also have that time to mature and think rationally so they can think for themselves
