Is there a way to transfer files from PC to 3DS wirelessly? It gets kinda annoying having to take out and re-insert the SD every single time.

two, use ftpd (either cia or 3dsx, I use the 3dsx version) or if you have a n3ds use micro sd manager. for the latter, you have to enable smb 1.0 and the ftp option (forgot what it's called) in windows features.

FTPD just doesn't work on my 3DSXL. The 3DS starts showing logs, but then it says
[RESPONSE] 502 Invalid command ...
...and the FTP client just times out and it won't connect.

I've had such things happen. the wifi in the 3ds sucks. micro sd management was pretty good when I used it, but it no longer functions without those windows features. they're enabled by default with windows 7, which I think was out when the 3ds hit the market.

So is there no way to fix that?

no, wifi has always sucked balls with Nintendo consoles. the switch's is decent, but every other console is terrible.

speaking of which, I only use ftp for small files. I have a n3ds xl too, so I have to use a screwdriver to take off the back plate every time for something larger than a few MBs.

I'm on a N3DSXL / Windows 10 and micro SD management works for me every time. Perhaps it's just your settings or something?

I think it's okay if you're just using it to access your 3DS' SD card.
maybe, but that's the reason it's disabled by default. they're up to smb 3.0, I think. the ps3 and the 360 also use smb 1.0 to map them as a network drive, so it no longer works without it enabled. you can map them as a network folder though, so it will be like dev_hdd0/packages , dev_hdd0/PS3ISO , etc as separate drives connected, but I don't think the 3DS can even do that, and even if it could, it would be a mess not to have access to the whole sd card, just folders in it. it won't be the whole drive.

well, I got the entire drive to show up without smb 1.0:

So guess I'll have to just resort to taking out the SD. Sigh.
Ftp with your phone, use something like Andftp or Solid Explorer in Android, set up the 3DS's ip, port (5000) and connect as anonymous (no pass).
For some reason, my phone connects and ftps better with the 3DS than my laptop. So that's why i recommend giving it a try.
