Feel free to point me in the right direction to this answer, but I couldn't find it via a search.
What if I only have a digital/eShop copy of the game I want to mod?

TIA.
That’s totally fine. We all install NSPs which are essentially the same thing…just digital installations. They will be “installed” and thus “mod-able” the same way.

Here’s a mod manager to get you started: https://gbatemp.net/threads/simplemodmanager-a-mod-manager-for-your-switch.548658/

Game Saves

  • jksv — game save manager
  • checkpoint — another game save manager
  • neumann — yet another game save manager
(for games, unless you have a metric pantload, just reinstall them and then restore your game saves.)

You can (destructively) test you SDCard for any issues with h2testw.

You will then need to format the card to FAT32 with rufus as mentioned above.
How can I use the save managers if I can't boot into CFW?

Correct.
Keep dirty Emummc Offline.
Use 100% clean Sysnand for everything Online.
Don’t cross the streams…you won’t get banned.

This is the n00bs general guideline. There is more nuanced detailed to it than that of course.

You can read about the nuance here:
Once you grok that you will be ready to make your own informed decisions about when where and how you would like to cross the lines (and be responsible if you screw up and get yourself banned.)
Yeah, no dice. Neither sysNAND or emuMCC can go online. I have no idea why they can't go online yet my normal OFW still can.
And to reiterate, you told me to use emuMCC to solve my online troubles yet you also say "Keep dirty Emummc Offline.Use 100% clean Sysnand for everything Online"?
No shade, I'm just trying make sure I understand what you're saying.

My apologies. That certainly won’t work!

You can use Hekate to share your nand and use NXNandManager to access the USER partition.

  • Mount any FAT partition (USER, SYSTEM, etc.) as virtual disk. Follow steps to install Dokan's driver first. Png
  • Explorer (Beta):
    • Explore the content of USER & SYSTEM partitions. Provides useful info: title name & id, user name & id, etc.
    • List, save or extract files from saveFS (title saves, under /save folder)
    • List, save, decrypt or extract content from NCAs (installed titles) using hactoolnet Png

No worries. We probably have protection turned on for all cases of CFW being in use.

For background check this out: https://rentry.org/ExosphereDNSMITM

You will need to make 2 slight adjustments

1) /exosphere.ini should read exactly like so
blank_prodinfo_sysmmc=0
blank_prodinfo_emummc=1
2) your /atmosphere/hosts/default.txt file needs to be renamed to emummc.txt

This will turn off (0) Prodinfo Blanking for Sysnand and only do DNS:mitm for Emunand…which is exactly what we want.

to be clear, if I ever insinuated that you should go Online with emunand that was incorrect. Only connect to Ninty with 100% clean Sysnand and protect Emunand by using exosphere and dns:mitm.

e: you can connect to the Internet with emunand…as long as you prevent it from going Online and connecting to Nintendo by using exosphere and dns:mitm.

e2: if this is still confusing, please restate what you would like to do and we’ll make sure you‘re set up to (safely) do it.

Thank you! Also realized I was getting ahead of myself as I haven't modded this console yet, so of course I can log into eShop and download my games, lol.

Thank you for clarifying.
I did everything outlined in your reply and the link provided yet sysNAND still refuses to go online.
Also, when I reboot sysNAND from hekate, a new default.txt file gets created in the hosts folder. Should that be a cause for concern?
And one more thing: does my usage of sys-ftpd-light have do anything with my current issue? I imagine not but still.

Thanks - I've backed these up now. Should they be restored via Checkpoint etc. or by adding the save files to the mounted USER after the SD card is formatted? Also, should I just start from here with my SD card or back anything else up?

I don’t believe you can write back but it’s worth a try. Checkpoint or JKSV will be able to import saves once you‘re able to boot CFW. If you have the disk space on your PC you can back up your emunand and your FAT partition…just in case (but to be honest it[s not working as is and we really don’t want to reintroduce the old stuff afterwards anyway.) I just took a look at that guide and that looks like a good place to start BUT you might want to check you card with h2testw Just to make 100% sure there’s nothing wrong with it.

What is in the default.txt file that was created? Is it this?

# Nintendo telemetry servers
127.0.0.1 receive-%.dg.srv.nintendo.net receive-%.er.srv.nintendo.net

are there any other .txt files in your /atmosphere/hosts/ directory?

It reads:
# Nintendo telemetry servers
127.0.0.1 receive-%.dg.srv.nintendo.net receive-%.er.srv.nintendo.net

So yes it is that, and besides that there's the emumcc.txt file the Rentry page told me to create for DNS MITM.
That’s great. It’s just the telemetry servers and not *nintendo*.

When booted into Sysnand/CFW check your serial number and make sure it’s not zero’d out (no need to post it here…just confirm that it‘s a random serial number.)

Is it at all possible to port some flash / PC games to the Nintendo Switch? I don't know jack about that so, that question goes for the great users out there who can do an awesome lot of things with coding and whatnot.

The two I always have in my mind are WCW Feel the Bang! and Megaman vs Metroid. Those games are marvelous!!!
