oh, so I suppose my XKJ- is still impossible to mod
Well you can hack it with a modchip but that isn't something you seem keen on doing. Your best bet is to sell your current Switch and buy an unpatched unit.
Thank you. If I am correct, I am using the correct firmware, firmware 10.0.0 exactly. Whenever trying to create a Nintendo account though, it states it needs an update then states when attempting to update, "There is not enough free space in the save destination." I have checked and there seems to be more than enough, would you happen to why am I having this problem?
The space its referring to is the internal memory. Are you positive that your internal memory isn't full?

I am pretty positive. It states in data management the system memory is at 25.9 GB. Are there other ways to wipe than to fully initialize in maintenance mode? (I have initialized multiple times)

You can try deleting any games or other content installed to internal memory. You can also remove any save data that you don't need anymore.

Hi,

So I know that everything related to CFW, backups, homebrew, etc., need to stay on Emunand. But if that is the case, how could I play online? Is it possible to use the same game file or backup and switch to sysnand in order to go online? Do I need to have two copies of my backup(one for Emunand and one for Sysnand/online)? If so, I guess that would mean my in game progress would be different in each backup, which doesn't really make sense. Is it safe to use a backup on sysnand for online play or maybe DLC?

Also, whenever I see a game file, it has with it a DLC and update. Does this update cover all the updates a particular game has had? I heard that on Tinfoil, you can see what is missing to a game as far as DLC and updates go. Is this correct? And is Tinfoil safe to use?

Another question I have is about the title keys or IDs for games and decryptors and so on. I basically don't know anything about this part really. Is having a decryptor necessary? How do title keys and decryptors work?

I would really appreciate any information and suggestions. Thank you!

The whole point is to not go online with CFW/homebrew. As long as you don't do that, you don't get banned. Also, emuMMC & sysMMC are separate so they don't share anything except the hardware they are on. This means your progress in games otherwise known as save files are different for emuMMC and sysMMC; they aren't shared between the two.

The latest update always includes data from previous updates. I don't recommend using DZ, which is the real name of the app that you're referring to. I highly recommend switching to TinWoo Installer instead. Its what I personally use.

I've never heard of a decryptor myself so I advise staying away from those. Title keys on the other hand are more useful for decrpyting games on your computer. When you install an .NSP file of a game, the title key is embedded within it such that the Switch uses the title key to decrypt the game so you can play it. This means you never see the title key because you don't need to.

Hi,

You can but your console will be banned and then you can't anymore. At a high level, online and CFW don't mix.

Is it possible to use the same game file or backup and switch to sysnand in order to go online?

No, this will get you banned very quickly.

Do I need to have two copies of my backup(one for Emunand and one for Sysnand/online)?

You can have a backup in emunand but not play online.
You can have a legit purchased game installed on your Sysnand and go online.

If so, I guess that would mean my in game progress would be different in each backup, which doesn't really make sense. Is it safe to use a backup on sysnand for online play or maybe DLC?

Not safe at all.

Also, whenever I see a game file, it has with it a DLC and update. Does this update cover all the updates a particular game has had?

Latest update covers all previous updates. You only need the latest. DLC will be per title content. Each will be different and additive.

I heard that on Tinfoil, you can see what is missing to a game as far as DLC and updates go. Is this correct? And is Tinfoil safe to use?

It will show you what's available to install in the shop you've connected to. If they don't have it you won't see it as an available update. There's another tool that will find what you're missing based on latest available but I will have to look for it.

Yes, tinfoil is safe to use.

Another question I have is about the title keys or IDs for games and decryptors and so on. I basically don't know anything about this part really. Is having a decryptor necessary? How do title keys and decryptors work?

What is a decryptor? Anyway, this is a huge question...can you be more specific rather than how does everything work? what are you looking to do?

I would really appreciate any information and suggestions. Thank you!
You bet!

if your SD Card do not have a "default.txt" file when Atmosphère start creates a new one with the defaults. so you are looking what you have on your SD

default.txt and
default.txt.txt files.

remove the "extension hiding" on your explorer:

Ok. I think I simply got the two, emunand and sysnand, mixed up. Sysnand you can play online, and emunand is dangerous to do so and is for all the cfw stuff, correct? And then save files for each nand are kept separate? For example, if I use Mario Kart 8 as my game for online play, I would go into Sysnand. But for a game I don't intend to use online, say, Pikmin 3 those games I could play on Emunand, right? Would I also use Homebrew, games from Tinfoil or Tinwoo etc. on Emunand? Could I play MK8 from a shop online on Sysnand? Or does it need to be Emunand?
And does TinWoo have shops like Tinfoil? Once again, thank you very much for the help.

correct

Yes…everything that doesn’t come straight from Ninty goes on emunand.

Could I play MK8 from a shop online on Sysnand? Or does it need to be Emunand?

No…anything from a shop is not from Ninty, therefore anything from a shop goes on emunand And never play online. only clean Ninty approved stuff on Sysnand.

And does TinWoo have shops like Tinfoil?

It does not. You will need to source the nsp/xci files elsewhere and then use one of the myriad of available methods within Tinwoo to install them. Still a top notch Installer.

Once again, thank you very much for the help.

Is it possible to update the sysNAND to the latest FW and still run an SX OS 11.0 emuNAND?

I already have a 2nd SD card set up to run Atmosphere on the latest FW, but as I want to keep the functionality to run XCIs off an external HDD, I also want to keep my SD card running an SX OS emuNAND on 11.0.

Ideally I'd like to update my sysNAND to the latest version so that I can go online but will this prevent me from being able to boot into my 11.0 SX OS emuNAND? I understand that I'd need to keep AutoRCM on and update my sysNAND via Choi to avoid burning fuses, but through my research, I can't find any solid information saying it's safe for me to update and would like to have that confirmation beforehand. Does anyone have experience with this?

(Sorry, I did create a thread for this already and it's not my intention to spam, but it was recommended that I ask here - I think a solid answer to this question could help a fair few people :))
