I was attempting to educate you so you wouldn’t come off so ignorant in the future. If you don’t want to understand why I said what I did then I’m at total peace with that, just don’t barge in and say ”What are you even talking about? There is no emunand selection even in there” when you are incorrect and uninformed.
No I am not incorrect nor uninformed, you are just aiding people in STAYING uninformed. This person has already installed tinfoil onto sysnand, and you're just giving BAD ADVICE that led to the mistake in the first place.

The SD card photos that were posted didn't even have an emummc folder. With no emummc and no emummc.ini, that stupid entry will happily boot you into SYSNAND CFW without any error indication. This is what happened, and why this person installed Tinfoil on sysnand. This doesn't happen when you explicitly set emummc in your boot option...

Im always building or modding something and have supplies of all sorts just not one of the boards, i have Arduinos in many flavours, esp32 boards, a blue pill maple and Pi zeros o plenty but not any of the boards i see listed in the guide :(
They’re really cheap to pick up just about anywhere for under $10. Most of the tuts were written for Trinket M0 so I would stick with that.

Yet, you continue to prove that you are…lol

I guess nobody should help anybody then unless they can read the source code as well as me, right chief? I think that behavior is cringey and gatekeepy.

I happen to think folks can enjoy a hacked switch without having to understand everything from the nand gate up. You disagree? OK. You do you. I’ll do me.

Now you’re doubling down and accusing me of causing somebody to install Tinfoil on their Sysnand? That’s rich. Maybe tone it down with the agro accusations?

You have a great day.

Is there any way to fully turn off the switch without pressing the power button? I don't like to use sleep mode and i don't wanna press the power button for 1000x times.

I'm running atmosphere.

There are a couple Power-related homebrew projects. What are you hoping to achieve though? i.e. why don’t you want to press the power button?

edit: I made some minor updates to this to make it compatible with libnx 4.x

Please help my switch stuck on logo, I already tried the recovery or maintenance mode, it doesn't work, already drain my battery and charge still the same, the only way to shut it down is holding the power button.

any clues that lead up to this situation? (Examples: recent CFW upgrades, accidentally accepting a FW, wife used your SD card in her camera)

which logo are you stuck on?

are you using atmosphere? Version?

how about Hekate? Version? Autoboot? AutoRCM?

I'm not using any cfw on my switch, I was playing online asphalt game for a couple of hours, then turn off the switch to charge it, then after that I power it on, It was stuck on the Switch logo of the joycon. Maintenance mode is not working, the only way to shut it off is holding the power button.

Yikes man. That’s not good. If you’ve not modified it, then it‘s going to be tough for us to put anything back. I would normally recommend recovery mode but sounds like you’ve already tried that.

you could try to remove all accessories like sd card, joycons and usb cable and try to boot it after holding power down for 15 seconds but that’s a long shot.

Probably going to have to take it to an electronics shop to get it checked out.

Anyone else have better options?

And this is my point right here. You can't even understand the situation, you haven't been here even a year, and you think you should be the one helping people.

I never said you CAUSED them to install tinfoil on sysnand. I said you ENABLED IT. And so did that god awful "guide". Go back and reread what I said, and try to comprehend this time. Comprehend what that entry does if someone has nuked their emummc.ini file.

I don't expect everyone to understand all of the source code or the inner workings of all chips or even the processes. I don't know all of it myself. What I expect, is for people to RTFM. And for people who don't, to have problems, get banned, and brick their Switch. A good guide should be little more than a road map.

1) Here is a list of things you will NEED and where to get them (their github pages)
2) Here is a list of things you will most likely want, and where to get them

**BACK UP ALL FILES ON YOUR SD CARD***
Make sure your sd is formatted to fat32 and using MBR (in case your OS wants to make the whole thing GPT-only)
Start with reading the entire front page (readme.md) of hekate, and create hekate_ipl.ini. Extract the folders and files to your sd card, and put hekate_ipl.ini inside of the bootloader folder

These are the ways to boot into nyx... (unpatched vs chipped, etc). Boot into nyx

dump your keys, etc... and dump your emmc

**BACK UP THE FILES**

This is how you create your emummc

**BACK UP ALL FILES**

Go to https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere and read the things in /docs (/docs/features/configurations.md AT A MINIMUM). Then look at the individual files in /config_templates. Any default you want to change, remove the ";" from the beginning of the line, and change the 0 to a 1, or 1 to a 0. Be sure to "save as" in the config folder, and not the templates folder (except for exosphere.ini, which you knew because you read configurations.md, right?)

Add payloads
Add homebrew
Insert card

Boot CFW

Grabbing the things from the source guarantees you have the latest files and latest information. File packs go out of date. Configurations go out of date (like BCT.ini going away, and exoshpere.ini going to the root). Therefore guides go out of date, and don't help people to understand what's going on to begin with.

I understand what your goal is, 'cause i was noobish since half year ago, i read alll sources and try to understand the working and the goal of each tile of the CFW Puzzle, then as i understand what all guys are talking about, i appreciate the "Packs", but as a full Noob....i think the better way is your's as you mentioned it.

Buuut....@binkinator is realy a good helper,he acts very patiently and the rentry guide is one of the better ones (it explaines more than SDsetup for example).......so what i want to say with my post is....both of you getting together is the best way to get to the goal of having CFW on Switch.

Sincerely Yours ;)

One of the better guides it may be, but that recent situation just proves my point even more, because it exposes a flaw (in its sample hekate_ipl.ini entries). It's a flaw that enabled someone to dirty their sysnand. CTCaer is a super thoughtful person and a GREAT software engineer. The entries emummcforce=1 and emummc_force_disable=1 were created for a good reason, and they should be used.

I really appreciate you trying to keep the peace man. I just do this for fun and I honestly enjoy helping other people and sharing what little I know. Cheers!

  • I've installed cyc.clk ofc
do I need to press anything? do anything? I just start the game reguallary but nothing happens, It keep being in docked mode 1080p

Ok after my bad day yesterday and installing tinfoil on my sysnand and CFW
I find a new big problem with tinfoil not installing to my emunand if anyone has any idea I I’m lost
I got some support in thread below but I’m still lost

https://gbatemp.net/threads/problems-install-tinfoil-self-installer.609052/page-2#post-9771736

You will need to get at least one title installed before you can do a title override. You can install Tinwoo in your /switch directory. When you run Tinwoo in applet mode it will complain with a warning but I’m going to test installing a small .nsp and see if it works to get the first title going. After the first title is installed you can install tinfoil and then have the best of both installer worlds. Might want to look at DBI if you want the best of all three worlds. They each have their strengths…

I hoping someone can find a way for me to get this going.
I was worried that it was my sd card going corrupted hopefully it’s just need full tittle control.
Let me know if tinwoo works?
