Hi, everyone. I'm kind of new to the emulators on the Wii and have been really struggling trying to get covers/artwork to display on FCE Ultra GX. In the emulator, you can switch between screenshots, covers, and artworks for what you want it to display. My roms are in .zip format which is supported by the emulator. They work perfectly fine. When trying to get the covers to coincide with the games, I rename them the exact same name as the zip file. They are .png files. I've even tried to resize the file to within 640x480 regarding the last update assuming that is the largest file size the emulator supports. Even after resizing, I still have no luck. What am I doing wrong? If someone could please give me a step by step approach to solve this issue I would be eternally grateful. I've wasted too many hours trying to figure it out lol. I am using the latest version 3.4.8

I stumbled across the same problem using version 3.5.0. A little digging in the code revealed that the image can have a maximum width of 640 pixel and a maximum height of 479 pixel. The proportions of the image are still a little off for me, but at least the covers now show up.

Ah ha! You've tracked down the actual bug. Thanks for that. I was wondering why there were complaints over this. I'll patch that in the code right now.

And BTW given that the covers get displayed in a small portion of the entire screen, you'll get no quality loss to make them 320x240 - they get shrunk down anyway when they're larger.

Hello, I tried everything you posted above to make the covers appear on fecugx and they still don't appear. I tried it on both version 3.4.6 and 3.5.0. My covers are word for word with the rom as they display on my wii U retroarch without any issues. I changed the resolution to 638 horizontal x 478 vertical, 320x240 and still no go. All my covers are in png format. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hello everyone,

I think I found a way to put covers in the emulator. I put the images under the screenshot folder instead of the covers folder and that made the images appear. I now have another issue where the image is too big and they do not display properly on the image. Is there way I can make every image 160x224 with a program or another way that someone knows? It would be a real big headache if I have to go into each image and resize each one individually. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Found this on a site regarding Snes9x GX. I updated this along with vbagx and all 3 emulators suddenly stopped showing pictures. Had to change them all to this size and they work now but finding the Nintendo ones VERY small. Worked fine using 680x500 before :/ guess something was changed but if anyone knows a way to make them bigger would be appreciated. Hope this helps.

Ok so I figured it out. I used the site bulkresizephotos.com changed the image resolution as follows :

FCEUGX - 360x480
SNES9XGX - 640x480
VBAGX - 300x300

All the covers work now being placed in the covers folder and being named the same as the ROM. I guess with the update something got changed.

Im having a similar issue. My game covers (screenshots) are not showing up on fceultra, names are all correct, sizes correct. I have another Wii where I have the roms and screenshots on the SD card and they show up perfect.

On my other Wii, the roms are on a usb drive. So i put the screenshots in a folder in both the sd card and the usb drive (tried covers/artwork too), still nothing. Not sure what the issues is here....any help appreciated.

I had to change the resolution bit depth to 32 I believe. Mine all work fine from my SD card.

I have spent many hours and finally figured out the exact specifications to make this feature work and man is it a dozy, it is critical that details are made exact in order for it to work.

1. The image must be in PNG format as a .png file
2. The image must be a resolution of 160 x 224
3. The image must have a bit depth of 32
If your image is not 32 bit and you are operating on windows you can use paint to open the image and save as PNG, this will convert it to a 32 bit image
4. The image must have the exact name of the rom it is affiliated with
5. The image must be placed in the covers folder
6. The covers folder/directory must be exactly 2 layers under the root of your SD
Correct Example: SD ROOT/fceugx/covers
Incorrect Example: SD ROOT/FCEUltraGX-3.5.3/fceugx/covers
7. In settings there is an option under the menu category called Preview Image, make sure this is set to covers

Thanks.
I spent a long time trying to configure the covers until I found your comment.
With size 160 x 224 but they look very small. I have tried a size of 360 x 480 and they look somewhat larger, but the image does not fill the entire frame. If I use an image size larger than 360 x 480 the image is not displayed.
Is there a way to see the full size image of the frame?
Thank you.

I want to know if it is possible to have Bezels (border fill in black sides) what is the resoultion is? 640 x 480?? dpi value = ? color bit =? screen resolution = ?
