Recently dumped my Japanese rom of the game and currently going through the textures, hoping to replace them with the more recent versions of the textures from 1.14.Hello everybody, it's been a long while since we ever got a solid modification to the game Minecraft - New Nintendo 3DS Edition. For some time now people have been trying to figure out a way to load custom texture packs and what not into the game, however many have hit some road blocks due to the way the game handles resource packs. I have personally examined the game at great lengths to figure out what makes these things tick the way they do, and I am happy to say that I got the results I was looking for. Due to said results, I was able to make a texture modification to the game of my own, however the process of which was indeed time consuming to say the least.
Alright, the process behind this as I stated is time consuming, but the results obviously work the way you want them to when you do the manual labor for them. I created a document which tells you the locations of the contents that need to be modified depending on your needs.

Due to the crummy nature of the vanilla atlas terrain textures, I decided to completely redo them for the game and update(s) respectively in a more professional manner, templates can be downloaded below.
Now for my texture pack release, I decided to start basic with simple porting just to see how the game would handle the custom textures, so I ported the vanilla textures from Minecraft - Bedrock Edition (v1.16.X) to the base of the New 3DS version. This too is work in progress, which means things may appear buggy, however the game will still function the way it should.
NOTE:
This version is NOT for 1.9.19, this is merely a starting pack for the base version of the game, I plan to update the texture pack for 1.9.19 in the near future. Using this texture pack while running 1.9.19 will cause textures to appear incorrectly in-game.

now that i think about it, what engine does New3DS run on? i doubt its console, bedrock or java but half of me is thinking it's either a modified version of PE or a new engine entirely

Even though Mojang markets this version of the game as a Legacy Console version (at least on their comparison charts they did, unknown if that was intentional or not), It's actually a modified port of PE, I have already documented all my findings and what not thus far.
Still way too soon to really push any new
content unofficially into the game. Even if we could push new content to it, expecting it to run the latest stuff to me is highly unrealistic and absurd especially at the hardware level, some people recently don't seem to understand that there are limitations.

Can it run close to Bedrock today?
No that is absolutely absurd, older smart devices running at 1GHz don't even support the latest version of the game, and the slightly newer models that do support it lag (tested with my older devices to know, it's not that great on the latest), just think, that is actually the clean form of PE/BE, so if it struggles there then it surely will on the New Nintendo 3DS.
The problem these days is people don't give ports of titles like this a chance just because they expect way too much. For what this is, it's actually impressive, interesting, and filled with potential if it's handled right. Sure it's clunky a bit, but hey, just look at how well it handled on an 800MHz system with hardly any RAM at its disposal compared to the 1GHz+ devices rocking gigabytes of RAM, that's a magnificent feat.
I am hopeful for this to receive mods and what not in the future, but I'm also aware of the reality of things, it can be better, but the New Nintendo 3DS is not a miracle worker, so for those expecting the world in your hands, consider the limitations at hand, and just be grateful we have something to work with, even if it's janky, it has the potential to be better. Right now it's still in infancy with modifications and what not. I'm doing my best to give what I can to it, I'm already documenting everything I know about this game internally and externally, the puzzle will come together all in due time.
So far it's just me, dealing with a situation currently where a couple people have been trying to snipe the work I've been doing out from under me likely for the wrong reasons, making trust a very hard thing to come by you know? It doesn't help at all and personally I find it very distasteful when individuals do such things obviously, due to that nature, that's why I haven't just given out everything I know and or have done yet, wanted to try and throw some solutions on the table first before I go in-depth with the information that way it's more set in stone rather than floating in pure text, been hard at work figuring things out for some time now.
