Are you using the latest nightly?
Does it show up in Settings/Input/Port 2 Controls/Device index? (if so try manually setting each bind)
Try updating Databases and Controller Profiles in the Online Updater section?
Like I said in the last post I haven't got a Pro Controller to test with :P Is your Pro Controller official one?
Let me answer the questions one by one:

Yes, I got the latest nightly from the buildbot, 6 hours after Quark's controller-related PR was merged.
No, it is just disabled. Nothing is connected at all.
Did both manually since the Online Updater is still useless on the Wii U, no change.
The controller is as official as it gets mate.

Hmm, that sounds very wrong then :P No tinkering with options is going to fix that ..
When did it last work correctly?

Before 1.9.0 was a thing IIRC. Only way I can use the Pro Controller is to make sure the Wii U is booted but the GamePad is off, and open RetroArch with the Pro Controller. And even then, as soon as the controller is disconnected, it never reconnects.

Sorry I thought I was onto something with my initial post :/ I guess you'd have to track down exactly what RA Stable it last worked as it should then see if you can find the commit that broke it?

Yeah, already have experience bisecting stuff with Autechre thanks to my involvement with the Xbox UWP port, but frankly, it is very tiresome to find which exact commit is the last working one since this issue spans multiple versions. But hey! At least we are seeing some work on this poor port, been neglected for so long I just replaced it with the Xbox. Hopefully this can be sorted out soon! Alongside that PSX bounty. :)

I had my toe in the UWP port for a while and I do still idle in Doms discord from time to time :P It seems like things are going from strength to strength there and have every thing in hand, its the WiiU port that needs the most love right now :P
and yes.. I'm very excited to see what happens with the PSX bounty too. I'm just keeping my hype in check best I can this time around :)

You were a mod on that server too, even recall you asking a question on the staff chat. Small world.

I still am I think. Small world indeed :P I'm just a Retroarch junkie lol where it goes I go, that and I'm very fond of the WiiU too.
How come the original wii can play ps1 games but the wii u never had a ps1 emulator?
I guess its because no ones taken on the challenge, that and its not an easy thing to do. It's not like you can just cut the Dynarec from the Wii Ps1 Emulator and paste it into a WiiU port.

I thought I fixed that!
Well, I'm still having plenty of controller issues sadly. Even checked the buildbot again to make sure it caught up to the PR.
How did you check that the buildbot was caught up to the PR? I just downloaded the latest nightly (~3.5 hours old as of this post), but going into Main Menu > Information > System Information I can see that the Git Version this build is based on is a day old (predating the merge of quarky's controller fixes).

I can't claim to know how the buildbot works, but unless something is going wrong, it seems like the builds are just not based on up-to-the-minute changes in the RetroArch GitHub repo. Perhaps the RetroArch repo is only pulled in once per day? It is called a nightly, after all. You might have better luck with a nightly that comes 24+ hours after a desired change.

Aside from that, I checked the buildbot itself, and the build date. Which was made today hours after the PR was Merged. Nothing too crazy really. And the System info showed that the build date was today. So.......

Probably because the Wii PS1 emulator ultimately got to a pretty solid state especially when played on a Wii U after enabling overclock. People in the scene may not have felt too motivated to build a Wii U specific PS1 emulator when a great option is already available to use on the device, and as such they focused on more pressing homebrew for the device instead.

Just updated to the newest nighly released today, the git version is for a merge made 2 days ago.
Get it while it's hot, folks. The new nightly (~2 hours ago as of this post) is updated. I can confirm Classic Controllers (and almost certainly Pro Controllers) are working perfectly again, for the first time since 1.8.9.

The nightly issue could be down to the fact the Buildbot site was down for a while last night (cert expired)
Good to know the Pro Controllers are working again :)
