BluUBomb - A primary Wii U entrypoint via bluetooth

H2x1_generic_WiiU_image1280w.jpg

BluUBomb exploits the Wii U's bluetooth stack to gain IOSU kernel access via bluetooth.

Not to be confused with BlueBomb for the Wii and Wii Mini.

What does this mean?
This means you can get IOSU code execution by only pairing an emulated Wii Remote to the system.

This should be useful to fix a few softbricks on the Wii U side.
You don't need a working browser or Mii Maker.
if you've messed up with regionhax and can no longer access the browser, BluUBomb can fix this as well.

The BluUBomb repository contains a few different kernel binaries for different purposes:

loadrpx.bin
Launches a launch.rpx from the root of your SD card on the next application launch.

regionfree.bin
Applies IOSU patches to temporarily remove region restrictions.
This should be helpful if you've locked yourself out of your applications due to permanent region modifications.

wupserver.bin
Launches a wupserver instance directly after using bluubomb.
This gets you full system access remotely via wupclient (replace the IP in line 29 with the one of your Wii U).
This works without having to leave the controller pairing screen.

I'm a little confused is this a new hack or just can fix your Wii U?
It's a new entrypoint. You can use this, for example, to get into the Homebrew Launcher.
The browser exploit is more convenient though. This is more intended to fix soft bricked consoles which can't access the browser.

And another (maybe stupid) question it's not your app but does Wiimoteemulator let you use other controllers on Wii games? Or just emulators?

yeah, I did region hax (didn't mess up). I kept the original sys_prod.xml. I never changed it back due to risk. I don't think there's much risk with the original file though, but at least now with blue bomb, I can fix it without worrying about something going wrong. I may do that or just leave it like I have been doing for the past four or five years. lol

@GaryOderNichts , will this work with the wsl version of linux like debian from the microsoft store? I have that installed. don't have a bricked wii u, but I'm mostly curious. I've kept it installed when I was trying to compile a delisted piece of software.

looks like it's working (first step):

I'm not sure how WSL handles bluetooth. I don't think it would support running BlueZ. You could try it, I guess.
I did all my testing with VirtualBox which works fine for this.

I only tried the first step, and it worked (at least downloading the dependencies). I'll just leave it as is in case I need it.

second and third steps work:

I'll have to stop for now, since I don't want to stop my bluetooth, but it's looking good so far.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

had to install wget (forgot about that when I reinstalled debian), but no big deal really.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

looks like you're right. I'm not sure if it worked. I got error 1 after it went through the source.

when I tried a similar bluetooth stack thing with that toshiba bluetooth files to enable wii u pro controller without a mayflash adapter, it messed up my original bluetooth devices.

SO this happens...

you may not be in the correct directory. you can go up one with cd .. place the copy of the files in the home/your name directory.
