Hi,
I recently bought a CECHC PS3 to play old games on and had a blast playing Klonoa for the PS1. However, Klonoa 2 crashes at a certain point in the game.
I have already found that this is a well known problem and found a config file on psx-place that supposedly fixes the crash. The problem is that I have difficulties understanding the nature of these config files and how to use them.
It seems like they are supposed to be used with the ps2_netemu emulator used by non-bc PS3s, so do they even work with the ps2_gxemu emulator that my bc PS3 is using? And if so, how do I use them? I am using webman mod to mount the iso file of the game atm. I have already tried to just copy the config file to the same folder where the iso file is and rename them so I have "Klonoa 2.iso" and "Klonoa 2.iso.CONFIG" and then just launch the game as usual, but the crash still occurs. How do I know whether the config has been loaded?
Sorry for my lack of understanding on this topic; I couldn't find any good resources to read up on it.
All the best

You need to be using either managunz or webman mod.
As stated in my original post, I am using webman mod. Does that mean the config is automatically loaded even when using ps2_gxemu? And are there different configs for different emulators (ps2_netemu, ps2_gxemu)?

it seems managunz wants those config @ / dev_hdd0 / game / PS2CONFIG
That is all I know. Good luck

The Klonoa 2 issue has been solved and it's fully playable :
- Download config file corresponding to your game region
http://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html

- Convert your PS2 ISO using PS2 Classics GUI :
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...ed-w-auto-suggest-configs-dvd9-support.18748/

- Encrypt the ISO ('Encrypt' TAB)
- After you generate the 'ISO.BIN.ENC' file, go to the 'make PKG' TAB, select the encrypted file, and make sure to select the Config file when the system prompts to.
- Install the package as PS2 classics. Problem should be solved.

I finally bit the bullet and tried to run the game using the PS2 Classics emulator. I couldn't get it to run using PS2 Classics GUI (it would tell me that the save is corrupted), but using managunz I was able to force netemu, and just having the config in the same folder as the iso like described in my initial post was enough to get it working and get past the crash. So I am guessing the config was either not loaded at all or at least didn't fix the issue when using ps2_gxemu. Thanks everyone for your help.
