Am I the only one who seems to never be able to sleep when I have the freedom to do so

On days I can sleep in I never do, on days I can't - sleep feels like some far off ecstasy or special dessert

Life is cruel

I am torn

a) "if in doubt, rack out" is something I can do. I can also wake up after any amount of time, chuck on clothes and shoes and walk out the door fresh as a daisy with no stimulants or anything.

b) EOF so song

Or the more old school sleep when you are dead.

I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and I'm completely alert, ready to tackle any problem. Then I go back to sleep, and when my alarm goes off I feel like I've been hit on the brain by a speeding truck made of benzos. Getting up then is the hardest thing I do all day.
Glug a glass of water after that happens so you get up again in a few hours and just stay up?

If the bathroom usage disrupts your sleep, then you can't go wrong with diapers! ;)

this is not how i expected a discussion of sleep to go

Says the girl who never sleeps!

But yeah, sleep is one of those things that are easy to screw up. You have to really be strict with managing your time, and if you stay up too long one night, it can, depending on how you react to the lost sleep you deprived yourself of, lead to a snowball of problems like consuming drinks with caffeine in them to assist in maintaining consciousness that won't get better until you determine to go to bed at X time no matter what, and you get comfortable with that schedule. It requires a lot of motivation to abstain from getting tasks you want to get done finished if you've got a lot you want to get done with your free time, but not a lot of time to yourself to get it done.

I keep a liter of water on my bedside table and have a drink of it every time I wake up during the night. It helps a lot, actually.

Words of wisdom.

I hate sleep. It's never refreshing, it's annoying to try to fall asleep, it's easily screwed up by jetlag or Daylight Saving or temperature or environment. Too many issues for it to be 'enjoyable' or 'good'.
