Hi everyone,

I have an XKW switch (Mariko 100% patched, bought in May 2020) and was wondering if there was any possible way to get CFW on it? I know SX Core got shut down, i keep reading online about a DIY Trinket M0 based modchip but i'm getting conflicting information on whether it will help me or not. Some of what I read says the trinket will not do what the SX Core did but other guides seem to show it doing exactly that ( or i am misinterpreting what i'm seeing).

Can i get clarification on if there is any possible way to hack CFW onto my switch? I am perfectly okay to solder stuff, i got lots of experience and good tools for it.

Ok so I know that "there are no stupid questions" but I'm really sure mine is. Where is the savefile of nsp games stored? I think its on the "save" folder on my sd but I'm not sure.

Is it still possible to set a custom avatar? All I can find is an old outdated program and Goldleaf. I've tried the latter, but it doesn't seem to work. It says it successfully changes the picture but its still the same. Its a JPG and 256x256, it should be fine. Is there a more current method?
Automatic Ban though with Nintendo....Mostly because people were making porn pics as avatars, and Nintendo put stop to it by banning any custom/homebrew avatars....

Have you tried using a homebrew application called Avatool?
I know it definitely doesn't hurt to try. Homebrew applications have never caused a brick (at least if you're using Atmosphere). As long as you have an eMMC backup, you will be fine. Even if you don't have one, making one takes around 10 minutes.
Unless you stay offline, and never want to go online again, I don't recommend you do this....instant ban! Not knocking you @Draxzelex but know nintendy pushed hard on any custom avatars not formal by them.

Hey Guys

Quick question. I already have s wtich running CFW and today I picked up another for $150 that I can mod. Is there a way to copy the sd card setup from my currently modded on the the new one? I modded the new one and copied the Good sd card over to it but all the games I downloaded using Tinfoil and such no longer are seen by the new console

Thanks
The games are "bound" to the other console. You must reinstall them on the new console.

Only way to mod a Mariko as far as we know is with the sx chip

There are no known software entry points or other hardware vunerabilities that have been made public

Saves are stored on the internal system memory with no way to access them unless you use a save manager.

I suggest looking at jksv or checkpoint if you want to access your saves

Oh I'm aware of the ban risks, I just don't care about any of that haha. I never plan on going online, ever. Never have and never will. My Switch is a purely single player machine. If I went online right now, even without the custom avatar, I'm 100% sure I'd be banned anyways =P Thank you for the concern though.

Hello People, I'm on sxos emunand and everything is as I please. But however, if I want to play new games I need to be on firmware 11.0.1.

I would like to build a new SD card with Atmosphere, on sysnand, due to the fact it supports 11.0.1, and keep sxos build, emunand on my old SD card on firmware 10.2.0.

Is my plan correct or am I missing a step. Hope to find some advice before breaking stuff!

Regards!

Seems like a perfectly reasonable plan to me. One suggestion is that if you only plan to use Atmosphere on your sysMMC and SX OS on your emuMMC, then you can keep everything on one SD card since Atmosphere itself doesn't take up too much space. Do not feel forced to go down this route if you don't want to however.

Hello there, I got a few questions since Im way way behind in the switch hacking scene (ever since SXOS was fresh, bought it, and still have it)

1. Currently Im at 10.1.0 on sysNand. Can I still setup an EmuNand even tho SXOS is already left behind?
or should I transfer to Atmosphere at this point?

2. Can anybody link to a guide to change from SXOS to Atmosphere? (I think I saw something but it said it was outdated)

as I was searching too, I saw "Daybreak" (which is similar to ChoiDujourNX) and "sigpatches" in relating to atmosphere which I have no idea what that is. Is it important? lol

I had home brewed my switch last year and it worked well. But recently after a long time, I tried turning it on and didn’t work. I tried every method I could. So after 2 days of trying, I decided to format my sd card and add brand new files. (I didn’t backup anything). It turned on, I used the latest version of atmosphere etc… but when I inserted my game cards, it said “the game card could not be read, please remove it and re insert it”. I tried fixing this by setting BCT.ini nogc=0 but didnt work. I tried installing nsp files but they didn’t intall or open. I formatted my sdcard again. Same problem. Please….I’m begging you to give me a step by step guide on how to save my switch

  1. You can setup emuMMC regardless of CFW
  2. https://gbatemp.net/threads/latest-sd-setup-for-moving-from-sxos-to-atmosphere.581237/
  3. There is no such thing as "sigpatches". Even if the thread or guide you saw uses that term, it is made up. There are 2 actual patches known as ES and FS patches which come bundled together but there are times when only FS or ES are updated. ES patches enable .NSP files to be installed and launched while FS patches allow .XCI files and converted .NSP files (such as homebrew apps) to be utilized

What bootloader are you using to launch Atmosphere? If you are using Hekate, then you are modifying the wrong file as only Fusee uses the BCT.ini file

Thanks for the reply!! Sounds like a good addition to my plan!! Going to look into it tonight!!

Here's a question that's probably been asked before.

Can a Switch with CFW play online with Monster Hunter Rise? With no cheats or save hacking. Just the firmware.

If no, then is it possible for me to update my sysnand and still have access CFW (if not now then someday?)? Especially if I have a backup?

EDIT: Assume I own a cartridge of MHR

All trinkets related to the Switch that you see use the Fusee Gelee exploit which is patched on Mariko units. The only way to hack Mariko units is with the SX Core which doesn't use that exploit but a method involving glitching. Therefore even though Mariko units can enter RCM and have a trinket installed, it will not work because the exploit they use is patched. You will have to get your hands on an SX Core which is hard to come by nowadays

While there are no inherent restrictions on playing online with CFW, be aware that doing so presents a ban risk. As for your other question, if your console is not patched, then the firmware is irrelevant because the exploit relies on the hardware of your device and not the software.

Hello,

It's been a while since I've updated the CFW on my Switch. It seems Kosmos is no longer supported. I'd like to update and clean up the SD card since I know some folders and files will no longer be needed. I'm not quite sure how to best approach this. It looks like I had two emuMMCs configured, one "clean" for online and the other "dirty" for offline. I'm not sure that's relevant. My exploit method is fusee-gelee. Any help, advice, and/or suggestions would be appreciated. I plan to look at my SD card and compare that with the SD Setup package within the next couple days. There's certainly no hurry since I'm sure I can get back into the groove of things. It will just take a bit of time to get myself back up to speed.

Thank you,

I am sure this has been asked before but I want to upgrade to a bigger SD card but have an EmuMCC. As far as I am aware the process to copy the files over gets complicated when you have one and I was wondering what the easiest way to do this is. Should I just simply do the process over again on the new card and move my old files over once I create an EmuMCC on it or is there something else?

If your emuMMC is partition based it get a little more complicated. In that case you can't copy emuMMC to the new SD card from your computer. You need to backup the partition and restore it to the new SD card. Follow this guide: https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/extras/transfer_sd/
Please note that IF you use a partition based emuMMC (recommended) then step 13 in the guide is VERY important. If you skip that you will restore your emuMMC to sysMMC!

Thank you. I have an additional question. What is the fear of possibly getting banned if when using 90nds or incognito you are affectively banning yourself to begin with?

I have a new Switch, Mariko edition. I've never soldered in my life, so kind of pooping my pants for not wanting to screw it up. SX Core is still the only way to do this with a Mariko edition Switch right?

The idea is to use incognito and 90dns in emuMMC for "unofficial" games and standard sysMMC for (no incognito) for games you own.
