It has been 4 full years since the Switch has been released, and 2 years since Mariko was released. Yet, we still have no softmod for Mariko. What's taking so long?

Lol.

It’s not like it hasn’t been looked into. It just cannot be done without hardware.
The *only* Switch I will ever be getting is the one I have, which is the Mariko revision. So should we just keep buying legit games and keep having the super bland OFW without themes?

And where can you buy this at then? A random sketchy store that will steal your money and never actually deliver the thing you paid for?
holy jesus christ dude. you sound like an ass ngl. Go to a trusted reseller. and if you can't do it yourself then well your out of luck for now.

The issue is your assuming Nintendo's security is anything like last time. for the most part. it isn't. The issue is that really the switch on the software end is really well locked down. Once you update past a certain firmware. For now the system is pretty much neigh impossible to crack. Getting unsigned code to run is nothing like the previous systems. even if you get unsigned code running, your not even guaranteed custom firmware. Even the non mariko units have trouble. Not every single non mariko switch has that rcm exploit. Nintendo ipatched the bootrom (essentially, to dumb it down. patched it in factory.) The only versions we know of, that work with full custom firmware support is 7.0.0 (that is the latest version of ofw a certain exploit should work on and grant cfw). the issue is. Not only is that exploit revolving a hardware problem (something that was patched in mariko) but likely still has a lot of difficulty trying to even get it setup in a non mariko switch.

As mentioned: use a trusted reseller. It’s not difficult to have come to this conclusion already, you just seem out to argue with every point. So, good luck with that ethos getting you anywhere.

you can buy SX Core mod chip on Aliexpress or just get OG v1 RCM exploitable second hand
plus developers have no reason to focus on Mariko since theres hard mod and so many OG v1 Erista units out there
so if you want Hacked Switch you have options
so theres no reason to complain and act like entitled school girl

I guess if you really wanted you could transplant an exploitable motherboard into a new switch.

If I were you I would sell your makiko switch and get an older one so you can soft mod it. You're going to spend over $100 on the modchip + installation from a 3rd party.

Softmod can't be done only hardmod.

It'll happen eventually if you wait long enough, outside of that you're shit out of luck outside hardmods. These exploits take time and energy, just like the time and energy it takes to work to make money for another switch, a hackable non-mariko switch :P

Dude, Nintendo doesn't sell non-patched switches anymore. And used ones will be banned.

How dare people not do what you want them to, even tho they've obviously tried for their own interest and found it to be impossible.

If you actually want to do something about the situation, then reverse engineer the modchip, and find a factory that will actually manufacture them, and get some out into the world. Otherwise shush.
